Family Businesses are the dominant type of business in the vast majority of countries in the world. Their role in the economy is reflected in their contribution to Gross Value Added and employment, and in all cases, the figures place Family Businesses as one of the fundamental pillars of social and economic development. However, the situation presents interesting differences between countries.

The characteristics, the level of competitiveness, and the way in which their management and corporate governance bodies tend to be organized and structured, or the degree of professionalization of their management present relevant differences between countries. Likewise, each state has established a different regulatory and cultural context, which has a decisive influence on the sustainability and competitiveness of the family business model in the economic and social sphere, after the notable success of the first two editions of this conference. This edition will illustrate the cases of three new countries, Austria, the United Kingdom and Hungary, at a time of great uncertainties and institutional challenges in the European Union.

The Conference will allow comparing the differences in their characteristics, their competitive situation, and knowing the experiences of other places to learn from them and try to extract lines of action and recommendations that may be useful to generate a more favorable context for the development and competitive improvement of our companies, and therefore, our economy.

In this third day we have the participation of three specialists in the study and analysis of family businesses from Austria, the United Kingdom and Hungary. The presentations of these international experts will be accompanied by colloquium-debate sessions, in which we will be able to reflect, by the hand of businessmen and managers of national and international family companies on the aspects that may be transferable to the Spanish context.
