PhD student Alejandro Morala Girón (Valencia, 1999), affiliated with the University of Valencia and linked to the project ‘Gender Technologies in Spanish Audiovisual Culture in the New Millennium’ (PID2022-138974NA-I00), undertook a research stay at West Chester University (USA) between February and May 2025. Based in the city of Philadelphia, the trainee researcher was supervised by Maria Van Liew, a lecturer in the Department of Cultures and Languages at West Chester University of Pennsylvania since 1998 and also a member of the TECNOGEN project.

During his stay, the doctoral student developed the content of his doctoral thesis on posthumour, low-cost Spanish cinema and gender, drawing on the materials provided by the host institution and exchanging perspectives with Professor Van Liew on Spanish cinema and gender. Among other activities, he gave a talk at Mitchell Hall at West Chester University where he presented his work, and wrote the article El análisis feminista y la forma fílmica. Tres paradigmas revisados (currently in press).

The experience has allowed the doctoral student to establish a network of contacts with different researchers in the city specialising in cultural analysis, as well as to exchange knowledge about other doctoral projects in development.
