On 27 March 2026, the University of Toulouse 2 – Jean Jaurès hosted the 12th edition of Cinéma, genre et politique, focusing on ‘Making films, building families, with or without a roof over one’s head’, a theme that explored the home as a space of emotional connection and resistance in contemporary Latin American cinema, and the rise of collectives and independent production companies operating as ‘chosen families’ outside the industrial framework. The conference, organised by Alexis Yannopoulos and Laurence Mullaly – research staff members of the TECNOGEN project – in collaboration with Rencontres Cinélatino, was attended by Mexican filmmakers Mayra Hermosillo and José Pablo Escamilla, guests of the festival.

Researcher Frida Luis Maqueira (University of Valencia), a member of the TECNOGEN research team, participated with the presentation Hogares y afectos errantes en el cine epistolar: 'A media voz' (Heidi Hassan y Patricia Pérez Fernández, 2019) y 'Transoceánicas' (Lucía Vassallo y Meritxell Colell, 2020).
