The research team of the TECNOGEN project took part in the International Conference on Film Studies organized by the London Centre for Interdisciplinary Research, where they shared their most recent contributions on Spanish cinema, gender, and representation.

This edition was held in person at the University of London, located at Birkbeck (London), on Saturday, 7 February 2026, and online on Sunday, 8 February. A total of four members of the project travelled to London to present their latest findings related to the conference theme, “Identity and Otherness in Film.”

Silvia Guillamón Carrasco and Jorge Belmonte Arocha presented the paper The Witch as Cultural Other: Abjection and Gendered Aging in Contemporary Spanish Cinema; Awatef Ketiti presented The Representation of Female Otherness in the Context of Armed Conflict in Spanish Documentary Cinema; and Javier Moral presented Those Who Lust (Elena López Riera, 2018): Visual Anthropology and Gendered Identities.

In addition, part of the team participated online on Sunday, 8 February. Researcher Alejandro Morala Girón presented the paper Motherhood as Uncanny Otherness: The Cinematographic Case of Salve María (Mar Coll, 2024), and researcher Frida Luis Maqueira presented The Representation of Cubanness and the Afro-Male Dancer in Yuli (2018): Gender, Race and Ethnicity.
