CENTRAL THEME
ENVIRONMENTAL CARE, HEALTHY HABITS AND HEALTHY LIFE
The common thread that gives coherence to this edition’s educational proposal is ‘Environmental care, healthy habits and healthy life’.
Today’s society needs to develop different ways to connect with the environment. We should ask ourselves whether we are teaching respect towards everything that surrounds us. If so, through which values?
When we think of values, we may emphasise cooperation, diversity or equality. However, considering that in order to protect our health we need to take care of the environment as well, concepts such as good eating habits, a healthy lifestyle, responsible consumption, joint responsibility in household chores and respect for the elderly should be included in this list. Above all, we should pay attention to our decision-making skills to minimise the impact of our actions on society and the environment.
This year we will work on these issues since understanding and caring for the environment will help future generations have a positive relationship with their surroundings and their health.
Come and join us!
ACTIVITIES
CULTURAL ACTIVITY: Urban Dance.
SPORTS: Physical and sports activities.
SWIMMING POOL: Once a week at the swimming pool in Burjassot.
WORKSHOPS:
An educational entertainment programme will be developed, which will include various socio-cultural activities organised over the following thematic weeks:
Week 1: PLANET EARTH
We will be parting from previous knowledge about planet Earth in order to work on its components and needs. By doing so, participants will be directly involved in the mitigation of environmental issues.
Activities: creating their own astronaut helmet, a meteor shower, ‘Ods Monsters’ and ‘#17Reasons’.
Week 2: HUMAN BEINGS AND THEIR ENVIRONMENT
The aim is to raise awareness that, although the challenges to improve the environment are global, each individual may take certain measures that contribute to improve the situation. In this regard, we will meet the superhero X-Nau, a former student of our Summer School, who must fight against the worst supervillain, Pollution. To achieve this, he will need our help. We are entrusted with very important missions!
Activities: ‘Aerobics’, ‘I’m starving’…
Week 3: ECOSYSTEMS
Since driving the supervillain Pollution away from our campus, we received a call from the Goddess Gaea and the Fairy Flora, two enthusiasts of environmental care. When they meet to discuss our actions, they realise that the Sierra Calderona, where Gaea lives, has had many issues such as fires, rubbish…
Activities: ‘Obstacle race’, ‘Bokwele’, ‘Totem’…
Week 4: MEASURES FOR A BETTER WORLD
This week, all the characters that we have met during the different settings and themes will thank the participants for their collaboration and reflect on the acquired knowledge during the Nau Menuda.
Activities: ‘The Olympiad’, ‘Recyclenau’, ‘Mission Turtle’…
FIELD TRIPS
The weekly field trips are the following:
Sant Vicent Park (Llíria).
We will begin by explaining the setting to the participants, who play the role of explorers. They will participate in four types of workshops using elements of nature.
The Villa Junior (Torrent).
We will take a guided tour around the facilities and feed the farm animals to learn about the the importance of preserving our environment and taking care of animals.
Naturia (Valencia) and Centre for Environmental Education of the Valencian Community (CEACV) (Sagunto).
The youngest and the middle groups will go to Naturia. The oldest will visit the CEACV. Both sites are centres for environmental education.
Vedat Swimming Pool:
We will spend the morning in an aquatic park where children will enjoy slides and different pools.
DISCOVER THE UV:
Botanical Garden of the Universitat de València. Through a guided visit, children will discover vegetation from different continents and learn about plants from the Mediterranean landscape.
