If you could conquer something—if it were possible, if you were allowed—what would you conquer? What would you want to occupy, to possess? What space, what object, what language, what piece of land would you make your own?
Conquests is a performance about something deeply human: the need to go further, the urge to possess, yes—but also tenderness; the bandaged leg and the possibility of moving forward; holding on and love; beauty, all kinds of beauty—the beauty of a scar on the belly and the courage to support another.
Because that, too, is human. That, too, belongs to us—like the minerals of asteroids or the orange tree with its roots intact that, despite everything, remains standing, upright and firm.
