Wikimarathon Sharks and Rays!

Conference on content editing about elasmobranchii (sharks and rays) on Wikipedia. This is part of the 'Tiburones y Rayas' ('Sharks and Rays') initiative aiming to promote the Spanish-speaking community studying elasmobranchii.

Why sharks and rays?

Shark and ray populations have been reduced by 71 % since 1970.

Over a third of shark and ray species are endangered due to overfishing.

An edithon is a collective and simultaneous editing event on Wikipedia, free and open to the public, in which people of different lecels of experience attend in-person or online to improve and create articles, usually with previous proposal and related to a singular topic.

In this case, the goal is to provide information on sharks and rays in Spanish Wikipedia, incorporating free information on species of the South Atlantic Ocean with poor information or no article at all.
