Valencia through the photographic memory of its signs (1880-2000)

The “Sala de la Muralla” of the Principal Peset Hall of Residence hosts a visual journey through the recent history of Valencia through the photographic memory of its signs (1880-2000).

Tomás Gorria, curator and head of the exhibition design of the show, says: “Recovering the history and daily life through the photographic memory of signs and urban typography can be a useful way of preserving collective memory and understanding the evolution of a city over time. The commercial signs that disappeared in Valencia between 1880 and 2000 are the focus of this exhibition and constitute visual vestiges that tell the stories of old shops, traditions and fashions that have shaped the character of Valencia”.

From 22 February to 14 April 2024, the exhibition will be open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday, from 11:00 to 19:00, in the “Sala de la Muralla” of the Principal Peset Hall of Residence of the Universitat de València (Plaza del Horno de San Nicolás, 4. Valencia).

ScheduleFrom 22 february 2024 to 14 april 2024. Tuesday, wednesday, thursday, friday, saturday and sunday at 11:00 to 19:00.
