The Orquestra Filharmònica of the University of Valencia calls the exams for new musicians

The Orquestra Filharmònica of the University of Valencia (OFUV) has opened the period to incorporate new musicians with the specialities of oboe/ English horn, clarinet/ bass clarinet, bassoon, trumpet, french horn, tuba, harp, violin, viola, cello and double bass. To become a member of the university Orquestra Filharmònica you will have to pass the entrance exams that will be held from 23 October. Pre-registration is free and must be hand in by 16 October.

To pre-register you need to fill in the application form and the exams will take place at the Charles Darwin Hall at the Burjassot Campus. The season of the regular rehearsals is from September to June every Monday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. and every Thursday from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m. at the same hall. Candidates must be no more than 23 years old and must attend the final years of musical professional studies. University studies shall be considered positively.

The Orquestra provides their members with financial support for their musical and pedagogical training. The students of the University of Valencia will receive an academic recognition of two ECTS each academic year; and the students of the Superior School of music Joaquín Rodrigo of Valencia and the Superior School of Music Salvador Seguí of Castellón will receive an academic recognition of external musical internships as well as two ECTS per year.

Likewise, participation in the OFUV provides opportunities for the promotion of soloists in chamber and orchestral concerts and chamber ensembles, as well as the possibility of participating in national and/or international tours.

Since its creation in 1995, the Orquestra Filhàrmonica of the University of Valencia has become one of the most relevant orchestras of the Spanish university scene. Each year, new students are joined and it provides a quality training in orchestral interpreting to the 80 young members.  The Orquestra is directed by the Valencian Beatriz Fernández Aucejo.
