In this meeting, we intend to bring together researchers that are interested in the field of translation, creating a discussion forum on:

Historical, social and cultural context of the translations and their reception.

Translators: their biographical context (private and professional), their technical and scientific knowledge, the reasons why they translate; translated texts (treatises, manuals, dictionaries, encyclopaedias, etc.): scientific and technical information provided by the translation, the different methods of translation (adaptation or not); the different parts of texts (prologues, translator’s notes, glossaries —hidden or not—); terminological neology, its presence in the dictionaries and normalisation.
