A Podcast is a short audio programme, usually in mp3 format, which combines an elaborated sound production on a specific topic. It serves to enhance the communicative and linguistic skills of learners and its application is particularly interesting in the foreign language learning environment.

It is not only a means of popularising science, but it is also, together with the videocast, an innovative pedagogical medium to encourage more active participation of students in the teaching and learning process and, in addition, it stimulates critical thinking.
