From 9 to 13 September 2025, the leaders of the RIALE team at the Universitat de València, Isabel Gutiérrez Koester and Ingrid García-Wistädt, along with the researcher Mireia Vives Martínez, made an institutional visit to the Eutiner Landesbibliothek, in Eutin, a German city. This centre represents one of the most relevant archives for the study of historical culture of travelling thanks to the uniqueness and wealth of its documentary collections.
During the stay, the researchers held a work meeting with the Forschungsstelle zur historischen Reisekultur, a specialised research unit on literature and historical journeys culture. The meeting enabled to understand first-hand materials, bibliographic resources and lines of research, which were especially interesting for the working corpus developed by RIALE team, focused on women traveller stories and cultural representations of travelling in Europe.
Additionally, the visit was useful for progressing in future ways of international educational cooperation, and for strengthening scientific contacts with benchmark institutions in the field of studies on travel literature. Within this context. The future cooperation with the director of the centre, Doctor Jost Eickmeyer, paves the way for methodological exchange, joint project development, and the creation of new international research networks.
With this initiative, RIALE reinforces its commitment to internationalising its research projects and to establishing academic synergies that contribute to compared study of travel culture, cultural memory, and transnational narratives within the European field.
