Vaig obtindre la Llicenciatura en Ciències Biològiques en 1997 (Universitat de València, UV) i el Doctorat en Ciències Biològiques en 2003 (UV). Posteriorment, vaig realitzar una estada posdoctoral al Departament de Zoologia de la Universitat d'Oxford (2004-2006), després de la qual cosa vaig obtindre un contracte Juan de la Cierva (UV, 2007-2009). A continuació, em vaig incorporar amb un contracte Jae Doc a l'Institut de Biologia Molecular i Cel·lular de Plantes (IBMCP-CSIC, 2010-2012). Durant els tres anys següents vaig reprendre la meua labor investigadora a a UV, si be va ser a partir de 2016 quan ho vaig fer en qualitat d'Investigador Ramón y Cajal. Des de 2021, sóc Professor Titular de la UV, adscrit al Departament de Genètica de la Facultat de Ciències Biològiques, i desenvolupe la meua investigació a l'Institut de Biologia Integrativa de Sistemes (I2SysBio). Dins de la meua labor docent, he tutoritzat nombrosos Treballs de Fi de Grau i de Fi de Màster. A més, impartisc docència en matèries relacionades amb genètica, evolució molecular i virologia en el Grau de Biologia i el Màster en Virologia. En aquest últim, actue com a Codirector des de 2024.

El meu camp d'investigació es centra en l'estudi de l'evolució de virus, fonamentalment d'ARN, mitjançant la utilització d'eines de genètica de poblacions, biologia molecular i cel·lular, filogenètica i bioinformática. Per a això, he dut a terme estudis d'evolució experimental i molecular en models tan diversos com a virus humans, animals, vegetals i de bacteris. En particular, l'auge de les noves tecnologies de seqüenciació massiva m'ha portat a focalitzar recentment el meu treball en l'anàlisi de dades de seqüenciació massiva (NGS) per a obtindre estimes de diversitat viral. Actualment, els objectius de la meua línia d'investigació a mitjà/llarg termini s'emmarquen en la fusió de l'anàlisi bioinformátic de les dades generades per NGS amb metodologies prèvies adquirides al llarg de la meua carrera professional, tals com l'estudi de virus en cultius cel·lulars o l'anàlisi filogenètica.

Al llarg de la meua carrera professional, he participat en més de vint projectes d'investigació (tres d'ells com a investigador principal). He publicat més de 50 articles d'investigació, la majoria d'ells com a primer autor o com a autor de correspondència, destacant alguns en revistes com PLoS Biology, Nature comunications, Nature Microbiology, Molecular Biology and Evolution, o PLoS Genetics. També he publicat 3 capítols de llibre. A més, he dirigit 3 tesis doctorals (una altra està en curs).

Dr. Jesús Rodríguez-Díaz is an Associate Professor (Profesor Titular) at the Department of Microbiology and Ecology, University of Valencia, Spain. He is an internationally recognized expert in enteric virology, intestinal microbiota, and host-glycan interactions, with over 100 peer-reviewed publications (h-index: 30) and seven book chapters. His research has significantly advanced the understanding of rotavirus and norovirus pathogenesis, including the discovery of novel glycan-based receptors and mechanisms of immune escape in enteric viruses. 

He has been Principal Investigator (PI) or Co-PI in more than 15 competitive research projects, including grants from the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation (MCIN/AEI), the Generalitat Valenciana, and international collaborations supported by the Center for Produce Safety (CPS, California, USA), where he served as Co-Principal Investigator in a project focused on the molecular epidemiology of human noroviruses and foodborne transmission routes. This collaboration highlights his leadership in translational research at the interface of public health, food safety, and virology, and strengthens scientific exchange between Europe and the United States. 

Dr. Rodríguez-Díaz maintains long-term research partnerships with groups in Sweden, Belgium, Brazil, and the United States, and has participated in multiple EU-funded consortia focused on viral pathogenesis and glyco-epidemiology. He has been an invited speaker at international congresses, including the European Rotavirus Biology Meeting (ERBM) and the Annual Conference of the Spanish Society for Virology.
He regularly serves as a reviewer for high-impact journals (PLOS Pathogens, Journal of Virology, Gut Microbes, Viruses, Frontiers in Microbiology) and participates in scientific advisory panels in virology and molecular microbiology. 

He has supervised seven PhD theses (all cum laude) and more than 30 MSc and BSc dissertations, mentoring early-career scientists who have continued their careers in academia and industry worldwide. His management experience includes nine research contracts with biotechnology companies and the founding of the spin-off Alba Biosciences S.L.U. 

He is also the inventor of three national patents and has successfully translated fundamental discoveries into applied biotechnology. His career combines basic and translational science, international leadership, and knowledge transfer, with measurable impact on human health, food safety, diagnostic innovation, and the competitiveness of the Valencian biotechnology sector.
