International Conference. València, october 17-18th 2024

Cartell del Congrés (la mateixa informació està al text)The Group of Research on the Reception of Classical Literature (GIRLC in catalan) organizes an international interdisciplinary conference whose main topic analyzes the treatment and presence of Lies and Frauds in both Greek and Latin literature and its reception. The main goals are, on the one hand, to show the results of the research group in its own filed of studies, namely the reception of both Latin and Greek literature, and, on the other, to create an open exchange of ideas and research in order to establish a connection among scholars from different fields and academic milieus.

In this edition, we aim to gather study proposals focused on the treatment of lies and fraud in a broad sense within all literary genres of classical traditions and their reception. The primary interest is to address falsehood, fraud, or forgery either in the literary content of the analyzed works (including deceptions or lies that affect characters or scenes within a work or across different works) or in the actual creation or reception of these works themselves (considering issues such as pseudoepigraphy, anonymity, or apocryphal literature). Proposals that align with the central theme of the conference will be valued, whether the focus is solely on a single work, author, or genre, or if a multidisciplinary or comparative approach is proposed, examining, for example, the presence of a specific motif across different genres or literary traditions.
