Various member of the GIEL group participated in the XLVII Simposi of the Sociedad Española de Lingüística, which took place in Alicante from the 23-26 January 2018.

The single session of Thursday 25 January focused on the non-university teaching of grammar and was coordinated by Dr. Ángel Gallego Bartolomé (Autonomous University of Barcelona), Dr. Edita Gutiérrez Rodríguez (University of Castilla La Mancha) and Dr. Ángeles Carrasco Gutiérrez (University of Castilla La Mancha). Our team mates submitted a communication: Alícia Santolària, with “La enseñanza de los conectores en Educación Primaria” (The teaching of connectors in Primary School Education); Alícia Martí Climent with “El tratamiento integrado de lenguas en la gramática: una aproximación a la terminología básica en los libros de texto de secundaría” (The integrated treatment of languages in grammar: an approach to basic terminology in Secondary School textbooks), and Carmen Rodríguez Gonzalo along with Carme Durán with “vuelvo al tiempo y al modo verbal secundaría obligatoria. Los conceptos y lo uso lingüístico en la enseñanza y el aprendizaje de la gramática” (back to tense and verb mode in compulsory secondary education. Concepts and language use in the teaching and learning of grammar). And in another session, our team mate Montserrat Pérez Giménez submitted the communication “De la calle a las aulas: didáctica de la sintaxis coloquial en Bachillerato” (From the street to the classroom: teaching colloquial syntax in Bachillerato).
