Goals

  • Advance in the knowledge of the successes and difficulties of pupils (in different courses and educational levels) in their learning of reading and writing in the languages of the Valencian school system, in order to develop proposals to improve their teaching and integrated treatment.
  • Analyse the role of grammar teaching, as attention to form and as a reflection on language, in the development of the understanding and expression of students, in both first and foreign languages.
  • Research on the conceptualisation of grammatical content and its role in improving written expression.
  • Study the ways in which pupils revise texts in school situations and the reading comprehension processes associated with them.
  • Design and implement didactic sequences as classroom’s intervention devices that allow the research on grammar teaching, reading comprehension and written expression, in both first and foreign languages.
  • Research on language and school grammar teaching history, in particular to establish lines of continuity and rupture with the current approaches. 
  • Analyse teacher and professor’s performance in relation to language teaching.
  • Research on the role of ICT in language learning, especially in relation to written language and literature.
