GIEL takes part in the VI Encontro Internacional de Reflexão sobre a Escrita (EIRE 2019)

On 21 and 22 June 2019 the GIEL group participated in the VI Encontro Internacional de Reflexo sobre la escritura in the University of Aveiro (Portugal).

The conference, organised by the Grupo ProTextos, showed decades of research and teaching of written language from different perspectives, languages and geographical areas. Another of the strengths of the conference was the great attendance of Portuguese teachers. The exchange created during years with teachers between the research group ProTextos leaded by the Dr. Luisa Alvares Pereira, has been key for improving the teaching in writing in Portugal.

The GIEL group presented several communications. Andrea Rivera Avalos, together with Carmen Rodríguez Gonzalo showed the study Creencias y prácticas sobre la escritura académica en el ámbito universitario (Beliefs and practices on academic writing in the universitary field). Victoria Abad Beltrán and Carmen Rodríguez Gonzalo presented the research El proceso de revisión textual: los ejemplos prototípicos de género como elementos reguladores de la escritura (The process of text revision: gender prototypical examples as regulatory elements of writing). Alícia Santolària Òrrios participated with Producción escrita y enseñanza de la gramática en los primeros cursos escolares: el adjetivo como ejemplo (Writing production and teaching of grammar in the first academic years: adjective as an example). In addition, members of the GIEL group showed their work done in collaboration with members from other universities. Carmen Rodríguez Gonzalo explained El aprendizaje de la escritura de textos de opinión en alumnos de primaria: análisis de actividad metalingüística, de los conceptos sobre la escritura y los productos finales (Learning of opinion essays writing in students of primary school: analysis of metalinguistic activity, of concepts on writing and final products) with Teresa Ribas Seix and Carme Duran (both on the GREAL group of the Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona). Finally, Alicia Santolària Òrrios presented a research, together with Susana Sánchez Rodríguez (University of Cádiz), named La alfabetización temprana en España: fortalezas y resistencias (Early literacy in Spain: strengths and resistances).

To end with, it is worth mentioning the fact that the link stablished during decades by the ProTextos group and the GRELL (Research Group in Education, Language and Literature of the Universidat de Vic-Universidat Central de Catalunya), has been underlined. It was represented by Mariona Casas Deseures and Jordina Coromina Subirats.
