A Petxa Kutxa is a presentation format (20 slides for every 20 seconds) which emerged in Tokyo in 2003 in the fields of art and advertising.
In recent years, it has spread not only in European and American cities, but also in schools due to its didactic potential: it can be applied to any level and subject, the communication skills are worked on, it allows the discourse and the image to integrate and it demands us to think of new ways to bring the discourse closer to the public. In the language teaching, it can also be a way to carry out projects which deal with different languages in an integrated way.
The seminar Petxa Kutxa: present and convince of the IES Camp de Morvedre aimes to improve the pupils’ skills to create oral texts in communicative and formal situations and on different subjects. Hence, the teachers that participated in the seminar reflected on the aspects of the teaching practice (content selection, activities design, formal oral structure and resources or evaluation of the pupils’ works) in order to adjust it to the process of teaching and learning.
The final activity of the seminar was a Petxa Kutxa contest, in which pupils of all levels (ESO, Bachillerato (Spanish Upper Secondary Education, ciclos formativos (First Cycle Vocational Training Courses) participated. The final of the competition was judged by a jury made up of personalities from the artistic world (the illustrator Paco Roca, actress and playright Lola López or the visual artist Jalid Melloul) and teachers involved in educational innovation (Mónica Montoro and Cristina Górriz). The pupils surprised the public by their participation in the proposal and by the variety of topics covered: the Mediterranean dunes, the first constructions of Puerto Sagunto, the magic or the identification of teenagers with the characters of Don Quixote and Sancho.
