Isoinertial device

These machines use a technology called isoinertial. It consists of a set of mechanisms that reinforce the eccentric part of the movement. Remember that many movements are made up of three phases: concentric (against gravity), isometric (where muscle contraction is maintained but without movement) and eccentric (slowing down the action of gravity). Well, it has been scientifically proven that emphasising the latter phase will help prevent injuries. The structural basis of these machines lies in flywheels or flywheels. When we apply force in the concentric phase, the machine stores the kinetic energy generated in various ways. This is returned in the eccentric phase and the subject will have to brake this inertia.

Substantial gas-flow proportional counter

A proportional counter is an ionising particle detector. Its operation is based on the ionisation produced in particles by an intense electric field passing through the gaseous detection volume. Both radiation types can be simultaneously measured taking into account that, by passing through a material medium, an alpha particle produces a higher specific ionisation than a beta particle of equal energy.

Surface electromyograph

Electromyography is a test widely used in medical science to assess the health of the neuromotor system, among many other uses it can have for the development of biomedical projects. The electromyograph is equipment used to activate, record, conduct and expose nerve and muscle action potentials for the purpose of assessing nerve and muscle function. Surface EMG signals (EMGS) are essentially a one-dimensional pattern, so any signal processing technique for feature extraction and pattern recognition can be applied to this type of signal. The information extracted from EMGS signals is selected in such a way as to minimise error in the control of myoelectric prosthesis systems. TecnoTest

TecnoTest is a tool that has two main objectives:

  • Screening or early detection of technological addictions (video games, mobile, social media) and gambling.
  • Prevention guidelines.

It consists of 24 items, in which there are 12 items (three for each of the four addictions mentioned) that discriminate between those who make appropriate use of technologies or play without problems, and those who have a problem of addiction to gambling or technology. A score on all three items for an addiction is related to a probable addiction problem (gambling, video games, mobile or social media), which requires further assessment and probably specialised intervention. In the event that the person scores 1 or 2 items, specific guidelines will be required to prevent the onset of addiction.

This survey has been developed at the Universitat de València.
