Biography
 

Professor in the Department of Corporate Finance at the Faculty of Economics, University of Valencia (UV). He holds a degree in Economics and Business Administration from the UV and completed the Pedagogical Adaptation Course (CAP), equivalent to a Master’s Degree in Secondary Education Teaching, at the Complutense University of Madrid. He earned a PhD in Financial Economics from the University of Valencia, with a doctoral dissertation entitled “Asset Pricing in the Spanish and European Capital Markets”, awarded Cum Laude.

His research activity focuses on Sustainable Finance, Corporate Governance, Board Gender Diversity, and Greenwashing. He leads the EFICO Research Group (Sustainable Finance, Corporate Governance and Greenwashing) and is also a member of the infoSOST Research Group (Corporate Information on Sustainability: Preparation and Verification). He has been a visiting researcher at the Centre of Finance & Economics (CEF.UP), University of Porto. He has participated as a speaker at more than forty national and international conferences and has published over thirty articles in prestigious academic journals, the majority of which are indexed in the first quartile of the Journal Citation Reports (JCR). These include Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Management (First Decile), Business Strategy & Development (Q1), Corporate Governance: The International Journal of Business in Society (Q1), Business Ethics, the Environment & Responsibility (Q1), International Business Review (Q1), Journal of Business Research (Q1), Small Business Economics (Q1), European Journal of Finance (Q1), Sustainability – Entrepreneurial Sustainability: New Innovative Knowledge (Q2), Spanish Journal of Agricultural Research (Q2), Quantitative Finance (Q2), and Spanish Journal of Finance & Accounting, among others. He has received seven research awards from institutions such as the European Academy of Management and Business Economics, the International Conference on Gender Studies and Culture of Gender, the Association of Young Researchers in Economics and Business Management, the International Conference on Sustainability in Higher Education, and the Ibero-American Association of Management Control.

He serves as President of the International Conference on Sustainability in Higher Education (CISMES), and is a member of the Editorial Board of the scientific journal Business Strategy & Development (Q1, JCR) and serves on the scientific committees of several international finance conferences.

In the area of teaching, he lectures in Finance within the Bachelor’s Degree programmes in Business Intelligence and Analytics, as well as in the Double Degree in Business Administration and Management and Law, and in the Master’s Degree in Corporate Finance and the Master’s Degree in Business Management (MBA). He has published more than forty teaching-related papers, presented over thirty contributions at teaching conferences, and participated in seventeen educational innovation projects. He directs the Consolidated Educational Innovation Group GINFICO (Corporate Finance Innovation Group). He is the author of two teaching manuals and several book chapters—many published by Q1 publishers according to the Scholarly Publishers Indicators (SPI)—and has received the Fernando Sapiña Award, as well as the award for Best Teaching Innovation Paper at the International Conference on Innovation, Documentation and Education. His teaching performance has been evaluated as Excellent by the DOCENTIA Teaching Quality Programme, achieving the highest possible rating.

Additionally, he has participated in research contracts with the Valencian Institute of Economic Research (IVIE) and within the R&D&I Programme of the Regional Ministry of Education, Culture and Universities (GVA). He has also taken part in numerous competitive research projects, including several knowledge transfer projects funded by the Valencian Innovation Agency (AVI) under the programmes “Complementary Actions to Promote and Strengthen Innovation” and “Valorisation and Transfer of Research Results to Companies”.

I am an Assistant Professor in the Accounting Department of the Faculty of Economics at the Universitat de València. I hold a degree in Business Administration and Management from the same university. Additionally, I have completed the Pedagogical Adaptation Course (CAP), which is equivalent to the current Master's Degree in Secondary Education Teaching at the University of Valencia.

I furthered my university education by obtaining a Master's Degree in Accounting, Auditing, and Management Control, with a specialization in Auditing, from the University of Valencia.

In the professional realm, I possess extensive knowledge and experience as an expert accountant and accounts analyst, having fulfilled these roles in both small and medium-sized companies across various sectors, as well as in cooperatives.

Within the teaching domain, I teach Accounting and Financial Statements Analysis in the Business Administration and Management and Economics programs.

Additionally, I teach accounting in the Master's Degree in Social Economy (Cooperatives and Non-Profit Organizations) at the University of Valencia. Concurrently, I actively participate in educational innovation activities through various projects awarded by the Servei de Formació Permanent i Innovació Educativa (SFPIE) of the University of Valencia. These projects aim to progressively incorporate sustainability into the academic guides of the subjects I teach.

Biography
 

Andreea Hancu Budui is an Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Valencia, where she teaches in Financial Accounting, Auditing, and Insurance. Her research focuses on public sector auditing, sustainability, and accountability. She holds a PhD in Accounting and Corporate Finance from the University of Valencia (2023) and a Master's degree in Accounting and Auditing from the University of Valencia (2018).
Her background includes more than 25 years of experience in accounting, consulting, and internal auditing, both in academia and in practice. She has worked as a financial director, internal auditor, and advisor in the social enterprise sector.
She has published in high-impact academic journals and books on public auditing, sustainability, and European policies. Her academic contributions include publications on the audit work of the European Court of Auditors, public governance, sustainability, and accountability in the EU. She has participated in numerous international and national conferences, presenting papers on sustainability, institutional transparency, and public auditing. She has also completed research stays at the European Court of Auditors and the European University Institute in Florence.
In 2018, she received the European Court of Auditors Award for her research on 40 years of auditing of the European Development Fund (1977-2017), after having been awarded a European University Institute Postgraduate Research Fellowship in 2017. She is part of the EUFINACCO international research network and participates in projects funded by the European Parliament through the AEGIS-EU research group (2019-2024) and the Centre for European Policy Studies (2024-2029). She also collaborates on educational innovation initiatives in accounting and sustainability at the University of Valencia. She is a member of the AECA ESG Focus Group.

Biography
 

Francisco José Climent Diranzo (Llombay-Valencia,1969). Professor in Accounting and Financial Economics at University of Valencia (Department of Financial and Actuarial Economics). Business Sciences Degree (1990), Bachelor in Economic and Business Sciences (1992) and PhD in Economics (1999) from the University of Valencia.

His research focuses on quantitative methods in Financial Economics, has published in international journals like Journal of Financial Markets, Energy Policy, International Review of Economics & Finance, Journal of Business Ethics, Quantitative Finance, Financial Analysts Journal, Technological Forecasting and Social Change, Journal of Business Research, Computational Economics, Borsa Istanbul Review, Economic Research or Service Business, as well as in National journals such as Spanish Journal of Finance and Accounting, Spanish Review of Financial Economics, Investigaciones Económicas, Cuadernos de Economía or Revista de Estudios Cooperativos (Revesco). In addition, he has been a Principal Researcher in competitive projects funded by the Ministry of Science and Technology, the Generalitat Valenciana and private institutions. He has recognized four sexenios' research.

The teaching activity has focused on subjects related to Financial Mathematics, Equity Markets, Fixed Income, Banking Management and Financial Econometrics, both in the Bachelor's and Master's degrees. It has recognized six five-years teaching and in 2014 it won the Award for Teaching Excellence in the XIX Edition of the University-Society Awards of the Social Council of the University of Valencia and recognized by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Sports of the Generalitat Valenciana. For the teaching activity developed in the periods 2012-2017 and 2017-2022, he obtained the Excellent Qualification in the DOCENTIA Program.

He has been the director of the Intercollegiate Doctorate Program in Banking and Quantitative Finance and the director of the Master in Banking Management. He is currently the Coordinator of the Intercollegiate Doctoral Program in Quantitative Finance and Economy

Biography
 

Paloma Merello holds a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration and Management from the Polytechnic University of Valencia (2010). She has a Master's degree in Data Analysis Engineering (2011) and two doctorates, one in Business Administration and Management (Polytechnic University of Valencia, 2013) and an International doctorate in Statistics and Operations Research (Polytechnic University of Valencia, 2015).

She currently carries out her teaching and research activities in the Department of Accounting at the University of Valencia. She specializes in Mathematical Modeling applied to Finance and Accounting, consumption disorders and social behavior, and preventive conservation of Cultural Heritage. She has been the Principal Investigator (PI) of the project "Non-rational decision dynamics: behavioral economics in financial and non-financial information" (ECOMINFO, 2020-2025), funded by the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities.

Merello actively participates in programs related to high intellectual abilities. She is the PI of the educational innovation project "Identification and promotion of university talent" at UV since the 22-2 academic year, Coordinator of the Talent Development and Educational Innovation Group in Accounting and Sustainability (GCID23_2573293) registered in the Registry of Consolidated Teaching Innovation Groups of the University of Valencia, and a member of the GIEDAC group (code GCID23_2588436). Additionally, she is part of the DACIU university mentoring program and teaches in the Master's program in education for gifted and talented students and talent development at the University of Valencia.

Janny M. Núñez Almonte is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Corporate Finance at the University of Valencia. She holds a PhD from the Doctoral Program in Accounting and Corporate Finance at the same university, where she defended her thesis titled "Board Characteristics in European Sustainable Companies: The Moderating Role of Board Gender Diversity", earning the distinction of Sobresaliente Cum Laude with International Mention.

She was awarded a predoctoral contract (ACIF22) funded by the Conselleria de Innovación, Universidades, Ciencia y Sociedad Digital of the Generalitat Valenciana. She also completed a predoctoral research stay at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto, supported by a grant for research stays in institutions outside the Valencian Community, also granted by the Conselleria de Innovación, Universidades, Ciencia y Sociedad Digital.

She holds a Bachelor's degree in Accounting from Universidad Católica Santo Domingo and a Master’s degree in Corporate Finance from the University of Valencia. Currently, she teaches in the Bachelor’s Degrees in Business Administration and Management and in Finance and Accounting at the Faculty of Economics, delivering courses in Investment Theory and Analysis and Business Investment Valuation. She is also an active member of the Research Group on Sustainable Finance, Corporate Governance, and Greenwashing (EFICO).

Maria Josep Picó Garcés has a degree in Information Sciences (Cardenal Herrera-CEU, 1996), PhD (Universitat de València, 2016) and Official Master in New Trends and Innovation Processes in Communication (UJI, 2019). She is Assistant Professor in the area of Journalism at the Department of Teoria dels Llenguatges i Ciències de la Comunicació of the Universitat de València. She directs the radio of the Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication, Espai Pòdcast UV.

She coordinates the environmental journalism module of the Master in Scientific, Medical and Environmental Communication at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra in Barcelona since 2005 and is also an associate researcher at the Basque Centre for Climate Change (BC3). Among her awards is the 2005 National Environmental Journalism Award, granted by the Ministry of Environment.

She has been a researcher in the ITACA group (Research in Technologies Applied to Visual Communication) and associate professor in the Department of Communication Sciences at the Universitat Jaume I (UJI). Also of the Scientific Culture and Innovation Units (UCC+i) of the Universitat de València and the UJI and of the Department of Communication and Culture of the Jardí Botànic of the Universitat de València. At the Universidad Politècnica de València she was also responsible for communication of the European university initiative ENHANCE Alliance.

Her areas of expertise are environmental journalism and communication, sustainability and climate change, as well as new transmedia narratives for science communication in the digital environment and journalistic quality. She is currently a member of research teams -together with scientists from the Institut Cavanilles de Biodiversitat i Biologia Evolutiva- in two European projects studying wetland restoration and nature-based solutions, as well as the social acceptability of these interventions. She is a researcher in a state I+d+i project, coordinated from the Department of Geography of the Facultat de Geografia i Història, for the Development of social resilience against flood risk in a context of climate change. She is also involved in the Digital Transformation Lab of the FORTHEM Alliance, as well as in the Youth Chair of the Faculty of Psychology and at the University of Valencia.

She was a journalist specializing in environment and science in the newspaper Levante-EMV; director of the magazine Nat, of the Barcelona publisher Sàpiens Publicacions and has collaborated in different media, among them, she directed and presented the radio and transmedia program Vides de ciencia in À Punt Mèdia. She has promoted several projects of innovation in science outreach, among them, she was technical coordinator and researcher of the Living Lab Planeta Debug of co-creation of video games and art in the universe of climate change at the UJI. As an environmental journalist in the OAM of Parks, Gardens and Urban Biodiversity of the City of Valencia, she coordinated the communication and participation strategy of Green Valencia, an initiative that won the award of Valencia European Green Capital 2024.
