Lilit Kharatian, from Heidelberg University, will give a hybrid seminar on prompting, generative AI and language learning.
The Universitat de València will soon host Lilit Kharatian from Heidelberg University, who will deliver a seminar focused on the use of generative artificial intelligence in language learning. The activity is part of Educational Innovation Project (PIEE) 4420568, "Integration of Artificial Intelligence for the Development of Written Expression in the University Classroom: Challenges and Possibilities in Foreign Language Learning (II)", coordinated by Anabel Martínez-Hernández and Begoña Clavel-Arroitia, and also receives support from the AI-LANG CIGE2026/38 project, coordinated by Lucía Bellés-Calvera.
The seminar, which will be held in a hybrid format, is aimed at university students and is entitled ‘Generative AI in Foreign Language Education: Prompting, Writing, and Digital Literacy’.
The session will explore the possibilities offered by generative AI tools in language education, with a special focus on prompting, writing and the development of digital competence. Throughout the seminar, the use of AI as a support resource for language learning processes will be addressed, as well as the development of strategies for using these technologies in a critical, reflective and autonomous manner.
The activity will also provide an opportunity to reflect on the role of students in the face of new generative AI tools and on the need to develop skills that enable them to formulate effective prompts, critically evaluate the responses generated and make informed decisions about their incorporation into the learning process.
The activity is part of the University of Valencia's initiatives aimed at analysing the opportunities and challenges associated with the incorporation of generative AI into language teaching and learning processes, with specific attention to the development of written expression, digital competence and student autonomy.
The seminar can be attended in person or online. Those wishing to attend via Zoom must register in advance using the relevant form.
