Lilit Kharatian, from Heidelberg University, will deliver a hybrid seminar on prompting, generative AI and teaching practice in language teaching.
The Universitat de València will welcome Lilit Kharatian from Heidelberg University, who will deliver a seminar for university teaching staff on the use of generative artificial intelligence in language teaching. The activity is part of Educational Innovation Project (PIEE) 4420568, "Integration of Artificial Intelligence for the Development of Written Expression in the University Classroom: Challenges and Possibilities in Foreign Language Learning (II)", coordinated by Anabel Martínez Hernández and Begoña Clavel Arroitia, and also counts with the support of the AI-LANG CIGE2026/38 project, coordinated by Lucía Bellés-Calvera.
The seminar, entitled ‘GenAI in Language Education: From Prompting to Pedagogical Practice’, will be held in a hybrid format and will focus on the incorporation of generative AI tools into pedagogical practice, with specific attention to prompting as a teaching skill and as a resource for the design and development of language learning activities.
The session will address the transition from understanding prompting techniques to their pedagogical application, and will explore the possibilities offered by generative AI for activity planning, the creation and adaptation of materials, support for writing processes and feedback in language learning. It will also reflect on the role of teachers in AI-mediated educational contexts and on the criteria needed to integrate these tools in a pedagogically sound way.
The activity will also allow for an analysis of the challenges and implications of incorporating generative AI into teaching, particularly with regard to the development of teacher digital competence, pedagogical decision-making, and the critical and responsible use of these technologies.
The activity contributes to the objectives of PIEE 4420568 and the AI-LANG CIGE2026/38 project, which are aimed at exploring the possibilities of artificial intelligence in language education and promoting the evidence-based incorporation of these technologies into university teaching practices.
