  1. Access YouTube Studio

    • Open your browser and go to YouTube Studio. Make sure you’re logged into your YouTube account to manage your videos.
  2. Upload the Video

    • In YouTube Studio, click on the Upload video icon (a camera with a plus sign) in the top right corner.
    • Select the video you want to subtitle and set the visibility. If you don’t want it to be public, choose Private or Unlisted.
    • Complete the upload process by following YouTube’s instructions.
  3. Wait for Automatic Subtitles to Generate

    • Once the video is uploaded and processed, YouTube will detect the audio language and automatically generate subtitles. This process can take a few minutes or longer, depending on the video’s length.
  4. Review the Generated Subtitles

    • Go to Content in YouTube Studio and select the uploaded video.
    • Click on the Subtitles tab. You’ll see the video’s language with the label Automatically generated. Click on this option to review the subtitles.
  5. Edit the Subtitles

    • If you need to make adjustments, click Edit on the automatic subtitles page.
    • Review the text and timing of the subtitles, correcting any transcription errors to ensure accuracy.
  6. Download the Subtitles in VTT Format

    • Once you’re satisfied with the subtitles, click Actions in the top-right corner of the screen.
    • Select Download and choose the .vtt format to save the subtitles to your computer.

Additional Tips

  • VTT Format: The .vtt format is compatible with most video players and video editing applications.
     
  • Error Correction: Automatically generated subtitles are not always 100% accurate, especially if the audio has background noise or uses technical language. It’s recommended to review them carefully before downloading.
