Not everything will go exactly as planned in every class, but you can use these guidelines:

a) Before the class

  • Identify the learning goal included in the timeline - What will students know or be able to do after each session?
  • Design each activity to be carried out. To do so, take into account:
    • What students should do
    • Time it will take to carry out the activity
    • It may be helpful to have specific activity sheets (more information on this can be found in the activities or tasks section of the subject planning menu).

b) During the class

  • At the beginning, show the students the session plan.
  • Avoid text-heavy slides.
  • Use a variety of technology, not just PowerPoint.
  • Remember that attention decreases significantly after 15-20 minutes.
  • Break passivity by inviting discussion or introducing questions.

c) After the class

Reflect on what worked well and what did not, and what could have been done differently. It will help to improve the plan.
