On October 17, the IX Conference on University Cooperation for Development was held at the rectorate of the University of Valencia, in which the professors responsible for the VI Call for Cooperation Projects of the UV presented the progress of their actions carried out in southern countries and the results achieved.

The day was inaugurated by the Vice-Rector for Sustainability, Cooperation and Healthy Living of the University, Pilar Serra Añó; the General Director of Inclusion and Development Cooperation of the Generalitat Valenciana, Pedro Carceller Icardo; and the Councilor of the Valencia City Council, Marta Torrado de Castro.

Afterwards, the Rector's Delegate for Development Cooperation, Carmen Lloret Català, presented the Fons UV Cooperació, which finances, with the individual contributions of university students and staff, the development projects carried out by the University of Valencia for the achievement of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals, with the aim of helping the comprehensive development of people in southern countries.

Throughout the morning and afternoon, the different professors of the University presented their projects carried out during the last year at different cooperation countries, mainly in Latin America and Africa.

Moreover, at noon, the checks included in the scholarship were delivered to the beneficiaries of the Lluís Vives Scholarship for the 2023-2024 academic year, thanks to which people from cooperation countries will study a master's degree at the UV this year.

Finally, to end the day, two conferences on Western Sahara took place, first by the Rector of the University of Tifariti Jatari Hamudi, who explained to us the development of the University of Tifariti since its foundation in the political and social context of the Sahara; and, secondly, from the professor at the Universidad Autónoma of Madrid Juan Carlos Gimeno, who presented the book Poets, poetry in Western Sahara and the cultural documentary Leghna, the Sahrawi speaks.
