Their essential functions are establishing the general lines of action, the selection of the beneficiaries and approving the plans, programmes, budgets and accounts of the FGUV.

Biography
 

Pascuala García Martínez is Professor of Optics at the Faculty of Physics of the University of Valencia. She holds a degree in Physics (1993) and a PhD in Physics (1998) from the Universitat de València. She has one son.

She has carried out several long-term research stays in foreign centres such as: Georgia Tech Lorraine, Metz (France), Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Tel-Aviv University (Israel) and her postdoctoral stay at Centre d'Optique, Photonique et Lasers, Universite Laval, Québec (Canada).

Her main field of research focuses on optics and photonics, specifically on the study of spatial light modulators, mainly on the characterisation and application of liquid crystals to diffraction and polarization.

She has been invited professor of the European ERASMUS Programme, to teach Optical Systems at Ecole Nationale Superieure de Physique de Marseille, Universite d'Aix Provence, in Marseille (France). She is coordinator of an Inter-University Network of Teaching Innovation for the teaching of Optics, receiving uninterrupted funding from UVEG since 2014 www.uv.es/ioptica 

She has been Vice-Dean of Studies and Academic Organisation of the Faculty of Physics for the years 2018-2021, member of the Governing Council of the Universitat de València (2018-2020) and is a member of the UV Senate.

Appointed in February 2021 Fellow of the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE). She was the only Spanish researcher to receive this recognition that year, along with 56 scientists from other countries. She has also received the honorary mention of Senior member of the SPIE (International Society for optics and photonics founded in the United States in 1955) in 2010 and Senior member of the OSA (Optical Society of America) in 2015. 

Deeply committed to defending the rights of women researchers, she is president of the Specialised Group of "Women in Physics" of the Spanish Royal Society of Physics and former president of the AMIT (Association of Women Researchers and Technologists)-MuCVal Node, General Secretary of AMIT (2022-2025).  She is the representative of the Faculty of Physics in the Physics Commission of the Spanish Royal Society of Physics and former president of the AMIT-MuCVal Node. Director of the Equality Commission of the Faculty of Physics (2010–2022). Member of the Drafting Committee of the Second Equality Plan of the University of Valencia, representing the Science Campus in 2013.

She has given talks and participated as a speaker in numerous round tables on Gender and Science. She also teaches courses and workshops on the integration of the gender perspective in both research and teaching at the University of Valencia.

Biography
 

Valencia (1964). PhD in Classical Philology (1994) and Tenured Professor of Latin Philology at the Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication.

After a period as a secondary school teacher, he joined the University of Valencia in 1994, where he teaches on various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes and has also served as director of the Master’s Degree in Research in Languages and Literatures. He has led educational innovation projects, including the University of Valencia’s first MOOC (Incipit). He has been awarded six recognised five-year teaching periods.

As a researcher, he has participated in several competitive research projects and has been Principal Investigator on two of them. His research focuses on Latin linguistics and the tradition and reception of classical literature. He is a member of the Research Group on the Reception of Classical Literatures (GIRLC). He is the author of numerous articles in indexed journals, as well as books and book chapters. He has served on the Editorial Board of the journals Studia Philologica Valentina and Quaderns de Filologia, and has directed two international scientific conferences. He has been awarded three six-year research periods recognised by ANECA.

With regard to management responsibilities, he served as Secretary of the Department of Classical Philology and of the Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication, and as Dean of this Faculty from 2012 to 2018. From 2018 to 2022 he was Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and Cooperation at the University of Valencia, and from 2022 until January 2026, Vice-Rector for Internationalisation and Multilingualism. He has been a member of the University Senate since 2013 and was President of the Management Council of the Language Centre from 2022 to 2024. He has been a member of the Executive Committee of CRUE–International from 2019 to 2025, serving as its Executive Secretary since 2021 till 2025. He has been a member of the Steering Committee of Xarxa Vives from 2022 to 2026. He has been a member of the Steering Committee of the Alliance of European Universities FORTHEM since 2019, a body he chaired in 2022 and 2023.
