Governing bodies

The structure of the General Foundation of the Universitat de València is based on programmes through which the different projects are developed; and it also counts on the Patronat, which is the higher governing, administrative and representative body. Their essential functions are establishing the general lines of action, the selection of the beneficiaries and approving the plans, programmes, budgets and accounts of the FGUV.

Pascuala García Martínez is Professor of Optics at the Faculty of Physics of the University of Valencia. She holds a degree in Physics (1993) and a PhD in Physics (1998) from the Universitat de València. She has one son. She has carried out several long-term research stays in foreign centres such as: Georgia Tech Lorraine, Metz (France), Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Tel-Aviv University (Israel) and her postdoctoral stay at Centre d'Optique, Photonique et Lasers, Universite Laval, Québec (Canada). Her main field of research focuses on optics and photonics, specifically on the study of spatial light modulators, mainly on the characterisation and application of liquid crystals to diffraction and polarization. She has been invited professor of the European ERASMUS Programme, to teach Optical Systems at Ecole Nationale Superieure de Physique de Marseille, Universite d'Aix Provence, in Marseille (France). She is coordinator of an Inter-University Network of Teaching Innovation for the teaching of Optics, receiving uninterrupted funding from UVEG since 2014 www.uv.es/ioptica She has been Vice-Dean of Studies and Academic Organisation of the Faculty of Physics for the years 2018-2021, member of the Governing Council of the Universitat de València (2018-2020) and is a member of the UV Senate. Appointed in February 2021 Fellow of the International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE). She was the only Spanish researcher to receive this recognition that year, along with 56 scientists from other countries. She has also received the honorary mention of Senior member of the SPIE (International Society for optics and photonics founded in the United States in 1955) in 2010 and Senior member of the OSA (Optical Society of America) in 2015. Deeply committed to defending the rights of women researchers, she is president of the Specialised Group of "Women in Physics" of the Spanish Royal Society of Physics and former president of the AMIT (Association of Women Researchers and Technologists)-MuCVal Node, she is also a member of the Board of Directors of AMIT. She is the representative of the Faculty of Physics in the Physics Commission of the Spanish Royal Society of Physics and former president of the AMIT-MuCVal Node.

Born in Valencia (1964). Tenured Professor of Latin Philology in the Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication. Graduate and doctorate in Classical Philology. He started teaching in the Universitat de València in 1994, in several undergraduate and postgraduate degrees and has also conducted the PhD in Research in Languages and Literatures. He has leaded innovative educational projects, among which stands out the first MOOC of the Universitat de València (Incipit). He has five five-year terms of certified teaching activity. As a researcher, he has participated in several competitive projects. His work focuses on Latin Linguistics and Tradition and Reception of Classical Literature. He belongs to the research group GIRLC-UV (Research Group in Reception of Classical Literatures). He is the author of numerous articles in indexed journals, apart from writing books and book chapters. He as formed part of the Board of the Editorial Office of the journals Studia Philologica Valentina and Quaderns de Filologia. He has been editor of several monographies and director of two scientific conferences. He has two six-year term of certified research activity. Compromised with management, he was director of the High School of La Eliana, member of the Student Council and secretary of the Spanish Society of Classical Studies in Valencia. He has been secretary of the Department of Classical Philology, secretary of the Faculty of Philology, Translation and Communication and dean of this faculty since 2012 to 2018. Vice-chancellor for Internationalization and Cooperation from Abril 2018 till Març 2022, nowadays is the Vice-chancellor for Internationalization and Multilingualism. He is a member of several commissions of the Universitat de València. He is also member of the Management Board of the Language Centre and director of International Programmes of the UV. Representing the Universitat de València, he has participated in international forums in China, Germany, France, Italy, United Kingdom, Russia and the US.
