The Universitat de València will host the Regional Meeting of the Fundación Carolina on 18 and 19 May 2026, with the main session taking place on 19 May and bringing together scholarship recipients from the 2025/2026 call.
The Universitat de València will host the Regional Meeting of the Fundación Carolina on 18 and 19 May 2026, with the main session taking place on 19 May and bringing together scholarship recipients from the 2025/2026 call.
A total of 50 Ibero-American graduates with outstanding academic records will participate. They are currently pursuing postgraduate, doctoral, and research studies at different Spanish universities thanks to Fundación Carolina scholarships. Specifically, participants come from universities in Albacete (2), Alicante (16), Balearic Islands (2), Castellón (1), Cuenca (1), Murcia (10), Tarragona (8), and Valencia (11).
This initiative has a threefold objective: firstly, to promote personal contact among scholarship holders, Fundación Carolina teams, and collaborating academic institutions; secondly, to provide deeper insight into Spain’s cultural, business, political, and social reality; and finally, to bring participants closer to the 2030 Agenda, encouraging their commitment to its goals in line with the Foundation’s values.
The main event on 19 May will take place in the Espai Vives Chapel and will begin at 09:30, with an opening session led by the Vice-Rector for Internationalisation, Cooperation and Multilingualism at the Universitat de València, Emilia Ferrer García, and the Secretary General of the Fundación Carolina, Purificación Causapié.
This will be followed by the lecture “The 2024 DANA in Valencia: impacts, response and reconstruction”, delivered by Professor María Dolores Pitarch and Professor Jordi Peris Blanes, who will analyse the consequences of this meteorological event and the strategies for territorial recovery.
The programme will conclude with a field visit to the affected areas in Picanya and Catarroja, guided by experts from the Universitat de València, allowing participants to gain first-hand insight into the impacts of the DANA and the actions undertaken.
This meeting is part of Fundación Carolina’s programme of activities aimed at promoting knowledge exchange, strengthening international academic networks, and fostering institutional cooperation.

Collaboration and scholarships at the Universitat de València
The Universitat de València has maintained ongoing collaboration with the Fundación Carolina for over 15 years through joint scholarship programmes that promote postgraduate education and international academic cooperation.
In the 2025/2026 academic year, the Universitat de València hosts a total of 14 Fundación Carolina scholarship holders, distributed as follows:
- 2 Master’s scholarships, including accommodation and board at Rector Peset Residence Hall, as well as tuition fees.
- 6 long-term doctoral scholarships, also including accommodation and board at Rector Peset Residence Hall and tuition coverage.
- 6 short predoctoral stays, with beneficiaries hosted in different departments of the Universitat de València to carry out their research activities.
