The chair Demetrio Ribes UVEG-FGV is the result of an agreement signed in November 2003 between the Council of Infrastructure and Transport by the Railway of the Generalitat Valenciana (FGV) and the University of Valencia – General Studies (UVEG) with the objective to develop the future Transport Museum of the Territory of the Valencian Community.

Thus the establishment of the chair Demetrio Ribes UVEG-FGV in the university field provides this new and unheard-of in Spain cultural project with the scientific basis in order a lively and dynamic museum to be created. That is why the chair is configured as a centre of research, education and diffusion of history of transport, the public works and the territory order of the Valencian Community.
