International Conference. València, october 22 - 23th 2026

The Research Group on the Reception of Classical Literatures (GIRLC) announces an interdisciplinary scholarly meeting whose central theme is the study of the concepts of order and disorder in ancient literatures and their reception in later literary traditions. The aims are, on the one hand, to present the research carried out by the group in its own field and, on the other, to foster an open research process capable of bringing together the training and efforts of specialists from different disciplines.

Thus, this year, we seek to gather proposals for papers focused on the relationship between order and disorder in ancient texts; on the ways in which norm and its violation or disruption are represented; on the tensions between law, justice, and exception; on the literary manifestations of hybris, crime, or sin; on the construction of transgressive characters and figures; as well as on processes of heresy, dissent, and doctrinal deviation. Proposals analyzing the reception of these Greco-Roman motifs in later literature are also welcome. Any proposal that fits the central theme of the conference will be considered, whether its main focus is limited to a single work, author, or genre, or whether it adopts a multidisciplinary or comparative approach, examining, for example, the presence of a specific motif in different genres or literatures.
