The DigitalRiego project, No. INNEST/2022/63, is a public-private collaboration project that aims to optimize water use efficiency (WUE) in plots by adopting agronomic strategies to optimize irrigation. This general objective is intended to be achieved by developing at a more scientific level a model for irrigation scheduling based on plant water status determinations using vegetation indices including thermography. The DigitalRiego model can be applied for different irrigation strategies, both optimal and deficit, calculating the irrigation dose to be applied based on short-term weather forecasts coupled to algorithms for calculating soil evaporation and crop transpiration.
The project is coordinated by the Desertification Research Centre (CIDE, CSIC-UV-GVA) and involves the participation of AINIA, the Polytechnic University of Valencia (UPV), the company Asdron Spain, S.L., the Valencian Institute of Agricultural Research (IVIA) and Aneecoop, S. Coop.
This project has been financed by the Agencia Valenciana de la Innovación (AVI) and the European Union through the ERDF. This action could be co-financed by the European Union. Valencian Community ERDF Program 2021-2027.
