Javier Jiménez is a Professor of Procedural Law at the University of Valencia (Spain). Further to completing undergraduate studies at University of Valencia, in 1998 he obtained his PhD and was subsequently awarded the Outstanding Doctorate Award in 2000. Javier has been granted a number of scholarships, including from the Austrian Ministry of Education to study at the University of Vienna (Austria) and has enjoyed other research visits to the Universities of Milan (Italy) and Mainz (Germany).

He is the author of the book El recurso de casación para la unificación de doctrina en el proceso laboral (1999) [Appeal for unification of doctrine in the labor process (1999)] and has participated in some fifteen other publications from which the we highlight the following: Hacia una justicia internacional (2000) [Towards International Justice (2000)]; Tutela de los consumidores y usuarios en la Ley de Enjuiciamiento Civil [Protection of consumers and users in the Code of Civil Procedure] – published in 2002 and 2003; Diversidad Cultural: Conflicto y Derecho (2006) [Cultural Diversity: Conflict and Law (2006)]; Secuestro de menores en el ámbito familiar (2008) [Abduction of minors in the family (2008)]; El espacio europeo de libertad, seguridad y justicia (2009) [The European area of freedom, security and justice (2009)]; Estado de Derecho y derechos fundamentales en la lucha contra el terrorismo (2011) [Rule of law and fundamental rights in the fight against terrorism (2011)]; El sistema jurisdiccional de la Unión Europea (2013) [The judicial system of the European Union (2013)]; Competencia, reconocimiento y ejecución de resoluciones extranjeras en la Unión Europea (2016) [Jurisdiction, recognition and enforcement of  judgments in other Member States (2016)]. In addition, he has published twenty articles in International and Spanish legal journals on topics related to the labor, civil and criminal proceedings. Javier has also delivered multiple conferences and participated in panel discussions on the International Criminal Tribunal, laws protecting consumers, international judicial protection of human rights and law on criminal proceedings against minors, amongst others. Javier has also contributed to ten interdisciplinary research projects funded by the Ministry of Education and Science, the Department of Culture, Education and Science of the Government of Valencia, and the European Union, addressing various issues ranging from Protection of Industrial Design, ADRs (Alternative Dispute Resolutions) and more recently, Judicial Cooperation and the Principle of Mutual Recognition within the framework of the European Union. In addition, he has supervised doctoral theses, research projects and master dissertations besides sitting at the selection board of examiners to the Judicial System related competitions.

In his teaching practice, further to teaching the subjects of his field of specialization, both at undergraduate and graduate level, he has also taught masters courses on “Derecho, Empresa y Justicia”  ["Law, Justice and Company"], “Estudios Internacionales y de la UE” ["International and EU Studies "], “Derecho y violencia de género” ["Law and gender-based violence"] and “Abogacía” ["Advocacy"]. Since 2012, he is developing an innovative education project in collaboration with ICAV (Law Society of Valencia) together with various judges, consisting on learning through the case study methodology and developing simulated court proceedings (moot court). These methodologies have already been implemented in the “Professional Practice I” course of the Masters in Advocacy. It is also important to highlight his teaching of law research methodology in a number of doctoral courses along with his participation in the programs of the Nau Gran and Unisocietat. In 2016, Javier was awarded the Teaching Excellence Prize awarded by University-Business Foundation ADEIT and the Department of Education of the Government of Valencia (Spain).

Javier has been a member of the University of Valencia Senate, as well as a number of Academic Commissions and also has held a number of academic positions, such as Secretary and subsequently Head of the Administrative and Procedural Law Department. Since 2000, he is an elected member of the Law School Board.

Biography
 

Rafael Bellido Penadés. His curriculum vitae includes extensive experience in the fields of research and teaching, as well as a solid academic background, as evidenced by the extraordinary prize he received for his law degree (1989) and his doctoral degree (1999). He has been a professor of procedural law at the University of Valencia since 1992, becoming a tenured professor in 2000 and a full professor of procedural law in 2018.

He is the author of more than 100 publications, including books, book chapters, and scientific and educational journals. He is the author of seven monographs on topics related to civil and criminal procedure. In this second area, which is more closely related to the Master's Degree in Criminal Guarantees, are “Right of defense and accusatory principle in misdemeanor trials” (2011, Dykinson, 334 pages) and “The recording of direct oral communications and images and their use in criminal proceedings (proposals for reform)” (Tirant lo Blanch, 2020).

His articles have been published in national and international scientific journals, including Gewerblicher Rechtsschutz und Urheberrecht Internationaler Teil, www.judicium.it, and Revista del Instituto Colombiano de Derecho Procesal.

Among his teaching publications, it is worth highlighting three textbooks that he authored alone: “Esquemas de Proceso Penal” (2011), “Materiales prácticos de proceso penal” (2011), and “Cuestiones prácticas de proceso penal” (Tirant Lo Blanch, 2014, 100 pages). In addition, he has participated in 20 editions of the manual “Civil Procedural Law,” Aranzadi (2000 to 2022) and in 9 editions of the manual “Introduction to Procedural Law,” Aranzadi (2010 to 2022).

He has also participated continuously in eight research projects, all of them funded by competitive public calls for proposals, two at the regional level and the remaining six at the national level. In all of them, he has contributed with publications in journals and books, having been the principal investigator in one of the national projects.

Likewise, I have had the opportunity to transfer the results of my research in various ways, such as serving as a substitute magistrate in the Provincial Court of Valencia, conducting pre-legislative studies—such as the one commissioned by the Regional Ministry of Public Administration of the Valencian Government for the creation of Community Courts and Trademarks— issuing opinions, such as the one requested by the Spanish Committee of Representatives of Persons with Disabilities, and serving as a lawyer for the Constitutional Court.

He has also spent fourteen months conducting research at universities in Freiburg (Germany), Milan and Rome (Italy), and Paris (France), all of which were funded by university, regional, and state scholarships and grants.

His teaching activity has focused on the various core subjects of the Bachelor's Degree in Law (Introduction to Procedural Law, Civil Procedural Law, and Criminal Procedural Law), although, following the introduction of new curricula, he has also taught on the double Bachelor's Degrees in Business Administration and Law, and Law and Criminology. Likewise, with regard to these subjects, I have taught both theoretical and practical modules, as well as theoretical-practical modules.

I have also taught postgraduate courses in various master's programs at the University of Valencia from 2000 to the present (Master's Degree in Human Rights, Democracy, and International Justice; Master's Degree in Business Law; Master's Degree in Criminology and Security; Master's Degree in Mediation, Arbitration, and Conflict Management in Private Law, and Master's Degree in Criminal Guarantees and Socioeconomic Crimes).

I have also participated in postgraduate programs at other universities, such as the Autonomous University “Gabriel Rene Moreno” (Bolivia) and the International University of Andalusia.

In addition to traditional teaching, I have participated in six Educational Innovation Projects obtained through competitive calls for proposals and continuously from 2009 to the present: Innovation Project in Transition Tutoring, Innovation Project within the framework of the European Higher Education Area for the double degree in Business Administration and Law at the University of Valencia (3rd year), Innovation Project within the framework of the European Higher Education Area for the double degree in Business Administration and Law at the University of Valencia (5th year), Educational Innovation Project in Legal Clinic (2011/2012), Educational Innovation Project in Legal Clinic for Social Justice (2012/2013) and Educational Innovation Project in Legal Clinic for Social Justice II (2013/2014).

As a result of the above research, transfer, and teaching activities, he has obtained five six-year research periods, one six-year transfer period, and six five-year teaching periods.

Biography
 

Professor of Procedural Law at the Faculty of Law and member of the University Institute for Research in Criminology and Criminal Sciences, he holds a PhD from the University of Valencia.

Her research work is focused on lines of research about criminal justice, new technologies and human rights; prevention and criminal prosecution measures; public policies for access to justice; judicial statistics and more recently in collective legal actions. He has three six-year research periods recognized and has directed and participated in different competitive research projects. He is the author of numerous articles and book chapters, as well as five monographs.

On the teaching side, she has taught subjects in various undergraduate and postgraduate degrees at different universities, has been responsible for educational innovation projects and initiatives and has participated in the Legal Clinic for Social Justice of the Faculty of Law. He has six five-year teaching periods recognized.

He is currently coordinator of the doctoral program in Human Rights, Democracy and International Justice.

He has held different academic positions, including secretary and vice-dean of the Faculty of Law, president of the Statutes Commission of the University of Valencia

Virginia Pardo Iranzo is a Professor of Procedural Law at the University of Valencia. She began her career after obtaining a research scholarship which were awarded by the Ministry of Education and Science.

He has carried out research stays at Universities in Germany (Freiburg), Italy (Florence and Genoa), USA (New York), UK (London) and Ireland (Dublin) and teaching stays at Universities in France (Toulouse), Poland (Warsaw) and Bolivia (Santa Cruz de la Sierra). He has lectured both in Spain and abroad (USA, Panama, Brazil, Peru, Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay, Costa Rica, Cuba, Colombia, Bangladesh, etc.).

Her research work covers civil and criminal proceedings and ADR (Mediation, Arbitration and Restorative Justice). She is the author of nine monographs (Ejecución de sentencias de obligaciones de hacer y de no hacer, 2001, La tutela ejecutiva en el procedimiento civil, 3 editions -2004, 2007 and 2011-, La prueba documental en el proceso penal, 2008, La ejecución del laudo arbitral, 2010, Claroscuros de la prueba pericial científica. Los análisis químicos de las sustancias estupefacientes, 2012, La ejecución del acuerdo de mediación, 2014, La supresión del exequatur. Libre circulación de resoluciones en la UE, 2020, Aspectos fundamentales de la Mediación Civil y Mercantil, 2021). The other monoghaph, (Los proceso de ejecución, 2019) was writtenin collaboration with one else author. She has also written many articles and book chapters (making in total more than a hundred publications, among others, Mediación Policial & Community Policing, Revista de Derecho Procesal, iustel, 2023). On European procedural law it is worth mentioning the Direction of the monograph El sistema jurisdiccional de la Unión Europea, 2013.

She has been a member of seven research projects granted by the University of Valencia, the Conselleria de Empresa, Universitat i Ciència, Ministerio de Educación y Ciencia and the European Commission. She has been Principal Investigator of two of them.

As far as the management work is concerned it should be noted that she was been Head of Section in the Vice-Rectorate of participation and territorial projection from January 2015 to May 2018. She was also a member of the Board of the Faculty of Law and of the teaching staff of the Universitat de València. She is a member of the Editorial Board of the Revista Brasileira de Direito Processual and of the Revista Iuris Tantum, Revista Boliviana de Derecho.

Finally, regarding the transmission of knowledge and activities outside the University it is worth mentioning that she is President of the Arbitration College at the Consumer Arbitration Board of the Valencian Community since 2012, Member of the Working Group on Interpretation of the Network of Official Forensic Laboratories of Spain (RLFOE) since February 2013, President of the Spanish Chapter of the Pan-American Institute of Procedural Law since 2022.
