Premio extraordinario en licenciatura (1975) y doctorado (1978) por la U. de Valencia. Estancias de investigación en Max-Planck-Institut für Deutsches und Ausländisches Strafrecht (Freiburg i. Br), Dipartimento di Diritto e Procedura Civile, U. di Roma III Tor Vergata, Centre de Recherche sur la Justice et le Procès, U. Paris I Panthéon-Sorbonne.

Catedrático en U. de Extremadura (1984), desde 1985 en la U. de València. Evaluación positiva de todos los quinquenios de docencia. Director de nueve tesis doctorales, cuyos autores son profesores titulares (2) y catedráticos (5) y co-director de dos, cuyas autoras son profesora titular y profesora ayudante doctora.

Investigador principal en cinco proyectos de I+D. Tiene reconocidos seis sexenios de investigación. Autor único de ocho libros, a destacar El embargo preventivo. Doctrina y jurisprudencia, Las medidas cautelares y La ejecución de condenas no dinerarias en la Ley de Enjuiciamiento Civil. Director y coautor, entre otros, de Derecho procesal civil (Thomson-Aranzadi, 19ª ed. 2020), Introducción al Derecho Procesal (Thomson-Aranzadi, 10ª ed. 2020), El proceso penal en la doctrina del Tribunal Constitucional (Thomson Aranzadi, 2005), Iter procesal civil (Portal laleydigital.es). Biography
 

Javier Jiménez is a Professor of Procedural Law at the University of Valencia (Spain). Further to completing undergraduate studies at University of Valencia, in 1998 he obtained his PhD and was subsequently awarded the Outstanding Doctorate Award in 2000. Javier has been granted a number of scholarships, including from the Austrian Ministry of Education to study at the University of Vienna (Austria) and has enjoyed other research visits to the Universities of Milan (Italy) and Mainz (Germany).

He is the author of the book El recurso de casación para la unificación de doctrina en el proceso laboral (1999) [Appeal for unification of doctrine in the labor process (1999)] and has participated in some fifteen other publications from which the we highlight the following: Hacia una justicia internacional (2000) [Towards International Justice (2000)]; Tutela de los consumidores y usuarios en la Ley de Enjuiciamiento Civil [Protection of consumers and users in the Code of Civil Procedure] – published in 2002 and 2003; Diversidad Cultural: Conflicto y Derecho (2006) [Cultural Diversity: Conflict and Law (2006)]; Secuestro de menores en el ámbito familiar (2008) [Abduction of minors in the family (2008)]; El espacio europeo de libertad, seguridad y justicia (2009) [The European area of freedom, security and justice (2009)]; Estado de Derecho y derechos fundamentales en la lucha contra el terrorismo (2011) [Rule of law and fundamental rights in the fight against terrorism (2011)]; El sistema jurisdiccional de la Unión Europea (2013) [The judicial system of the European Union (2013)]; Competencia, reconocimiento y ejecución de resoluciones extranjeras en la Unión Europea (2016) [Jurisdiction, recognition and enforcement of  judgments in other Member States (2016)]. In addition, he has published twenty articles in International and Spanish legal journals on topics related to the labor, civil and criminal proceedings. Javier has also delivered multiple conferences and participated in panel discussions on the International Criminal Tribunal, laws protecting consumers, international judicial protection of human rights and law on criminal proceedings against minors, amongst others. Javier has also contributed to ten interdisciplinary research projects funded by the Ministry of Education and Science, the Department of Culture, Education and Science of the Government of Valencia, and the European Union, addressing various issues ranging from Protection of Industrial Design, ADRs (Alternative Dispute Resolutions) and more recently, Judicial Cooperation and the Principle of Mutual Recognition within the framework of the European Union. In addition, he has supervised doctoral theses, research projects and master dissertations besides sitting at the selection board of examiners to the Judicial System related competitions.

In his teaching practice, further to teaching the subjects of his field of specialization, both at undergraduate and graduate level, he has also taught masters courses on “Derecho, Empresa y Justicia”  ["Law, Justice and Company"], “Estudios Internacionales y de la UE” ["International and EU Studies "], “Derecho y violencia de género” ["Law and gender-based violence"] and “Abogacía” ["Advocacy"]. Since 2012, he is developing an innovative education project in collaboration with ICAV (Law Society of Valencia) together with various judges, consisting on learning through the case study methodology and developing simulated court proceedings (moot court). These methodologies have already been implemented in the “Professional Practice I” course of the Masters in Advocacy. It is also important to highlight his teaching of law research methodology in a number of doctoral courses along with his participation in the programs of the Nau Gran and Unisocietat. In 2016, Javier was awarded the Teaching Excellence Prize awarded by University-Business Foundation ADEIT and the Department of Education of the Government of Valencia (Spain).

Javier has been a member of the University of Valencia Senate, as well as a number of Academic Commissions and also has held a number of academic positions, such as Secretary and subsequently Head of the Administrative and Procedural Law Department. Since 2000, he is an elected member of the Law School Board.

Investigation centred in the study of the penal process and the human rights, and in the analysis of the justice from the implementation of technicians of management and his consideration like public service. Virginia Pardo Iranzo is a Professor of Procedural Law at the University of Valencia. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Law (1995) and a PhD in Law (2000) from the same University, where she is a Professor of undergraduate and postgraduate studies. She had a collaboration scholarship (1994) and a research scholarship (FPU, 1996-1999) which were awarded by the Ministry of Education and Science.

He was a visiting researcher at the Universities of Fribourg, Florence, Genoa, New York, London and Dublin and a visiting professor at the Universities of Toulouse (France), Warsaw (Poland) and Santa Cruz de la Sierra (Bolivia).

As far as her research work is concerned, she is the author of six monographs: Ejecución de sentencias por obligaciones de hacer y de no hacer in 2001 (‘The Execution of Sentences for Affirmative and Negative Covenants’), La tutela ejecutiva en el procedimiento civil, (‘Legal Protection on the Civil Procedure’) published in three editions in 2004, 2007 and 2011, La prueba documental en el proceso penal in 2008 (‘Documentary Evidence in Criminal Cases’), La ejecución del laudo arbitral (‘Execution of Arbitration Awards’) in 2010, Claroscuros de la prueba pericial científica. Los análisis químicos de las sustancias estupefacientes in 2012 (‘Grey Areas in Scientific Expert Evidence. Chemical Analysis of Narcotic Substances’) and La ejecución del acuerdo de mediación in 2014 (‘Mediation Agreement Execution’). The other monograph, Los procesos de ejecución (‘Execution Processes’) was written in collaboration with Parada Mendía in 2019. She has also written many articles and book chapters, which make a total of almost a hundred publications. Regarding European procedural law, she published the monograph El sistema jurisdiccional de la Unión Europea (‘The Jurisdictional System of the European Union’) in 2013, as well as various articles and chapters of different books on European Union law.

He has been a member of seven research projects. Five of them deal with European procedural issues and they have been supported by the University of Valencia, the Valencian Regional Ministry of Business, University and Science, the Ministry of Education and Science and the European Commission. She has been the main researcher of two of these projects.

As far as the management work is concerned, it should be noted that that she was the head of department (Vicerectorate for Territorial Participation and Protection) from January 2015 to May 2018. She was also a member of the Board of the Faculty of Law and of the teaching staff of the University of Valencia. He is a member of the Editorial Board of the Revista Brasileira de Direito Processual (Brazilian Legal Journal on Procedural Law) and of the Revista Iuris Tantum (Bolivian Law Journal).

Finally, regarding knowledge transfer and activities other than the University, it should be noted that she has been an international arbitrator since December 2012, as well as President of the Arbitration Association of the Consumer Arbitration Board of the Valencian Community since 2012 and member of the Spanish Working Group on Interpretation of the Network of Official Forensic Laboratories (RLFOE) since February 2013.
