The Doctoral Programme in Social Sciences at the University of Valencia tries to achieve an advanced training of researchers capable of generating new social knowledge that can situate society in a position to face collective uncertainties with creative capacity and scientific knowledge. The emerging social problems addressed in this program, whether in the field of employment, human resources and occupational risk prevention, in the field of social welfare, migrations and life trajectories or in the topics of sustainability and cultural changes, require specialised and trained personnel for the development of research, both basic and applied. In a constantly changing and accelerated social context, people with the necessary skills are required to generate new knowledge related to the organization and functioning of society, to participate in networks to generate debate and to create a better understanding of social life.
