CRUE Spanish Universities, in collaboration with the Network for Scientific Dissemination and Culture (RedDivulga) of the CRUE R&D&I sector and the Ignacio **Larramendi Foundation, is organising the sixth edition of the ‘#HiloTesis: your doctoral thesis on social media’ competition to promote scientific dissemination and the development of communication skills among future researchers.

The competition is open to early-career researchers who are currently working on their doctoral thesis or who have defended their thesis within the last 12 months. The competition involves presenting their research in a carousel format on Instagram, adapting the content of their thesis into simple and visually appealing language, with the aim of bringing their findings to the wider public – the last edition of #HiloTesis attracted 489 participants from 58 Spanish universities.

The aim of the competition is to promote scientific outreach and the development of communication skills among future researchers. With the support of the Ignacio Larramendi Foundation, the initiative seeks to reinforce the social relevance of research, viewing it as a key pillar for a more open, fair and balanced society.

To take part, participants must have the authorisation of their thesis supervisor and undertake to ensure that the information shared is suitable for public dissemination, whilst respecting any confidentiality agreements in all cases.

Competition deadlines and instructions
The competition will run from 00:00 on 1 May 2026 until 23:59 on 21 May 2026 (Spanish mainland time). Publications or entries submitted outside this period will not be considered. Participating research trainees must, once the carousel has been published, register and provide the link via this form. Entries not correctly registered via the form, submitted after the deadline, or where the link provided is incorrect will not be considered.

The first post in the carousel must include the hashtag #**HiloTesis and mention or tag the following accounts in an image: @crueuniversidad, @fundacionaignaciolarramendi and @universitatvalencia.

Entries may be enhanced with visual elements such as images, videos, links and emojis, with the aim of making the work more engaging and accessible. The carousel may be posted in Valencian, although the University of Valencia will provide a Spanish translation should it be selected for the national round.

This competition reinforces the University’s commitment, together with **CRUE, to scientific dissemination and the promotion of effective research communication, with the aim of bringing academic and scientific work closer to society.
