The Universitat de València organises de third conference on dissemination of doctoral theses to highlight trainee researchers’ effort for promoting accessible knowledge transfer. The event will include three awards and it will be hold on 15 July at Espai Vives.
The initiative is organised by the Doctoral School and the Science Culture and Innovation Unit. The objective is to make it easy for pre-doctoral students to show their research projects so that they are understandable for the general public, promoting dialogue between science and society.
The participation application can be submitted via registration on the esdeveniments.uv.es web until 27 May. The projects must be presented using simple language, in one intervention with a time limit of 4 minutes. The awards given will be of 300, 250, and 200 euros. Moreover, one of the three awarded people will take part in the finals of the competition of dissemination of doctoral theses for researchers on the initial pre-doctoral stage of all the universities members of FORTHEM.
The FORTHEM Researchers Grand Prix 2026 will be hold on 21 October 2026 at the University of Opole (Poland). The Universitat de València, through the Office of the Vice-Principal for Internationalisation, Cooperation, and Multilingualism, will offer training for the selected person, who must defend its thesis in 4 minutes in English, and will be responsible for paying the expenses of the travel to Poland for the finals.
Trainees enrolled in any doctoral program at the Universitat de València can take part in the event on 15 July, at least in the second year, with an active enrolment, and up to date payments for the 2025/2026 academic year. It is essential not to have defended the thesis before 15 July 2026, and to have the approval of the thesis supervisors. The registration form must include a brief description of the presentation, indicating the research topic and its potential impact.
Before the event, the direction of the Doctoral School will designate a grand jury composed of three members, who will select a maximum of 16 people among the applications submitted, and they will participate face-to-face at the event. The selection criteria are clarity of expression and structure of the text (up to 3 points); research interest and coherence (3 points); creativity and originality (3 points); and a correct, accessible, non-sexist, and inclusive use of language (1 point).
For the event on 15 July, the jury will be composed of María Amparo Tórtola Baixauli, principal of the Doctoral School at the Universitat de València (Department of Theoretical Physics); Gianni Gallello (Department of Prehistory, Archaeology, and Ancient History); Carolina Moreno Castro (Department of Language Theory and Communication Sciences); Carlos Romá Mateo (Department of Physiology); and Julia Suso López (Department of Financial Economics and Accounting).
