The Institutional and Business Chairs of the Universitat de València has been awarded to the Chair Würth-EMC, directed by deputy director of the ETSE-UV José Torres País. Stablished in 2015, his is the first International Chair of the Universitat de València and it constitutes a wide-spectrum collaboration between the company Würth Elektroik eiSos and the University.
The Chair includes areas of research, innovation, dissemination and teaching that encourage the optimal evolution and merging of the university world with the business and social spheres. This Chair includes all sorts of activities and events, from hiring research staff for advanced research and the fulfilment of doctoral thesis in the field of electromagnetic compatibility to the carrying out of final year and master thesis.
At the same time, all sorts of conferences, seminars and international workshops are carried out in the facilities of the ETSE-UV. The participants of these range from companies of the Valencian Community interested in this field to researchers, international communicators, students, PhD students and professors. One of the highlights of this collaboration is the creation of the first I+D+I (Research, Development and Innovation) of Würth in Spain, which has its headquarters in the Science Park of the Universitat de València.
Francisco Grimaldo Moreno, from the Department of Computer Science, is amongst those warded with Teaching Excellence, which acknowledges the teaching labour of the faculty of the Universitat de València.
Francisco Grimaldo graduated in Computer Engineering and Technical Telecommunications Engineering in Telematics and he got his PhD with honours in the Universitat de València. He is currently the deputy director of the ETSE-UV and director of the Chair Capgemini-UV of innovation in the development of software. He has obtained excellent evaluation for his teaching task, both in the surveys and in the DOCENTIA programme. He has leaded an interuniversity network of teaching innovation with 10 competitive projects. Grimaldo has also published 26 articles in magazines and teaching congresses, as well as 6 undergraduate and graduate teaching materials. He has participated in 23 training activities directed to improve teaching. He has been a visiting professor in many foreign universities and he has been active in academic management, which has allowed him to work in internationalisation, business network and the improvement of the studies in Engineering and Science Data of the Universitat de València. His research focuses on simulation, agent-based modelling, machine learning, web engineering, analysis and data visualisation.
