  1. Psiconeuroendocrine response in situations of social interaction: Analysis of psychological and physiological variables in social situations ethologically relevant as courtship, competition, conflict, cooperation and negotiation, including studies in animals (mice) and studies in humans in the field and laboratory.

  2. Factors modulating the stress response. Study of individual differences in stress response, taking into account variables such as age, sex / gender, personality, social status and demographic characteristics, strategies and coping styles, psychological and physiological response and recovery to the stressor, among others.

  3. Activity of the hypothalamus-hypophysis-adrenal (HHA) axis in conical diseases and related to aging. Research focused on the study of HHA axis activity in chronic and aging-related diseases, such as metabolic disorders (type II diabetes, hypertension, metabolic syndrome), mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's disease.

  4. Social stress animal models. Study in animal models (mice) in which psychosocial stressors are used to study neurobiological mechanisms underlying the development of psychopathologies derived from social stress.

  5. Activity of the Hypothalamus-hypophysis-adrenal (HHA) axis and cognitive performance in young people and adults. Study of the effects of chronic and acute activity of the HHA axis on cognitive performance in children, young people and the elderly. Effects of cortisol on memory performance, executive function, attention, processing speed, etc.
