The objective of this work is to offer an overview of the practice of tests in Spain and Latin America, as well as to point out some of the challenges posed by psychological evaluation for the future. In the first place, it reviews how the psychometric training of psychology professionals is carried out in different countries, as well as the actions and projects developed to ensure that the users of the tests have the required competencies. Next, the actions aimed at improving the quality of the tests and their use are analyzed, as well as the opinions of psychologists regarding the tests in their respective countries, which are key to be able to design improvement actions. Finally, some reflections are made on the future of the practice of tests, which is marked, to a great extent, by the great advances of new digital technologies.
