Towards inclusive employment for people with intellectual disabilities: challenges and impact

This project focuses on the full inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities (ID) in regular work environments as a way to promote their social participation and role as citizens. However, two important challenges are identified that may hinder this objective. On the one hand, technological transition and digitalization can limit the access of people with ID to inclusive jobs, since they have traditionally held positions that are easily replaceable by machines. On the other hand, the gender gap, combined with disability, poses additional difficulties for women with ID.
