The artwork starts with setting up a list of names corresponding to people buried in graves of the Valencian Country. Then, black paint comes into play and disappears after a rubbing gesture, as if it were cleaned or dusted, this way allowing the audience to read the names.
Miquel García
Barcelona, 1975. García explores the notion of space and territory, the analysis of economic structures and those of power, in addition to contemporary theories on history and collective identity. His projects are narratives built by creative or appropriate texts. He’s interested in searching gaps, omissions, sometimes by means of what’s hidden, forgotten, finding changes about their own history, development and disappearance. He carried out residencies at El Ranchito (Madrid), La Casa das Caldeiras (San Paulo) and Chang Dong Art Studio (Seoul), was conceded a grant by UNESCO and collectively presented his work at the Pompidou Centre, La Fundación Tàpies and Casino Luxembourg.
