David Conesa has a PhD in Mathematics from the University of Valencia, where he has been working since October 1993. He conducts research in the area of ​​statistical modeling of situations in which uncertainty is present, and does so mainly from a Bayesian perspective. Thus, for example, he has worked on problems of queues, hierarchical models, efficiency analysis, animal survival models, and lately in species distribution models.

He is co-author of more than 70 publications, the majority indexed in journals of international impact, and more than 230 communications in national and international conferences. He has co-directed 8 theses and is currently co-directing three more.

He has carried out research and teaching stays at Duke University (USA), Lancaster University (UK), Statistical and Applied Mathematical Sciences Institute (USA), Université de Bordeaux (France), Università de Bergamo (Italy), Universidade do Minho (Portugal) and several Spanish universities.

He was the President of the Spanish Region of the International Biometric Society during the years 2014 and 2015, and is currently the Editor-in-Chief of the journal Statistics and Operations Research Transactions (SORT).

He has taught Mathematics, Biostatistics, Design of Experiments, Mathematical Statistics, Statistical Modeling, Probability and Simulation, Bayesian Statistics, Computing and Programming in R, Generalized Linear Models, and Smoothing, Additive and Mixed Models.

Degree in Mathematics and Doctor in Astrophysics in the University of Valencia (2009). Postdoctoral researcher in the Max-Planck Institute of Astrophysics in Garching (Munich, Germany) and the Observatory of Paris-Meudon (Paris, France). Visiting researcher in the Universities of Liege and Namur in Belgium. Currently, I am Associate Professor in the Faculty of Mathematics of the University of Valencia, Applied Mathematics section. I combine my teaching duties with a research activity in the fiels of applied mathematics and astrophysics, with special interest in numerical relativity and gravitational waves. I am member of the Virgo Collaboration in Valencia (Spain), where I coordinate outreach and communication activities. I am member of the Editorial Board of the Journal of Physics Communications and part of the Executive Board of the Spanish Society of Relativity and Gravitation. I also have an active involvement in projects with undergraduate students from different degrees, and I devote time and ilusion to a lot of science outreach activities, including being an active member of the local association Sapiencia.

Maria Grau Pérez has a degree in Mathematical Sciences (2010) with a Master in Biostatistics (2014), both from the University of Valencia. After a few years working as a Statistics Specialist first at Johns Hopkins University (Baltimore, 2014-2016) and then at Columbia University (New York, 2016-2018), she returned to Spain to complete her doctorate in Epidemiology and Public Health for the Autonomous University of Madrid (2022).

She currently works at the Health Research Institute of the Clinical Hospital of Valencia (INCLIVA) and combines it with her position as a substitute professor in the Department of Statistics and Operational Research of the University of Valencia.

Her research focuses on evaluating the health effects of long-term environmental exposures (metals, tobacco or eating habits, among others), with special interest in the integration of genetics and the development of causal inference methods. For the last 10 years she has been working on research projects related to the environment in cohort studies that have led to more than 40 scientific articles published in high impact journals.

MD and Phd. Master in Community Health. Medical specialist in preventive medicine and public health.

Associate Professor at the Department of Preventive Medicine and Public Health of the Universitat de València. He has been an Assistan Professor in that Department for 10 years.

With an extensive professional career in the General Directorate of Public Health of the Regional Public Health Authority (Conselleria de Sanitat Universal i Salut Pública. Generalitat Valenciana) where he has worked, above all, in the field of epidemiological studies and information, dedicated especially to disease registries and mortality.

With experience in research management tasks as deputy director general for research, innovation, technology and quality of the Valencia Regional Public Health Authority, and previously as Director General for research, innovation, technology and quality.

Researcher at the Foundation for the Promotion of Health and Biomedical Research of the Valencian Community (FISABIO), in the Joint Research Unit on Rare Diseases UV-FISABIO. Also included in the group CB06 / 02/0049 of the CIBER of Epidemiology and Public Health (CIBERESP).

President of the Spanish Society of Epidemiology (SEE). Member of the ethics and data protection SEE working group. It belongs to the Advisory Committee of the Spanish Federation of Rare Diseases Associations (FEDER), the Scientific Committee of Orphanet Spain, and the Commission of Ethics and Scientific Integrity of IMPaCT (Precision Medicine Infrastructure associated with Science and Technology).
