The Master in Chemical Engineering of the Universitat de València has organised the 9th Conference for IQ-Innovation in Chemical Engineering, in which students propose technological innovations such as solutions to needs or as opportunities in specific market niches.
The theme of this year’s conference is “CIRCULAR ECONOMY AND SUSTAINABILITY IN THE PLASTIC SECTPR” and the event is in line with the ecological transition needs of society based on technological solutions. The IQ-Innovation Conference is aligned with the actions of the UVsostenibilitat team of the Office of the Vice-Principal for Sustainability, Cooperation and Healthy Life at our university and adds to the awareness-raising efforts related to training professionals in the knowledge and skills that have led Valencia to compete for the European Capital of Innovation and to achieve the European Green Capital status.
The purpose of the conference is to create a professional atmosphere that simulates the interaction between the proposers and the visiting public at scientific congresses and business fairs. 7 stands have been arranged where our innovators will present the development of the latest technological proposals.
The conference will take place on Friday, 20 December, in classroom 0.0.3 of the Technical School of Engineering, between 10:30am and 12:00pm.
The presented projects include:
• PLASTIMARK: Luminescent Marker-Based Intelligent System for Plastic Identification and Recycling
• CARBONTEX: Textile discoloration with carbon dioxide in a super-critical state for recycling.
• D-STEP: D-Limonene for Sustainable Treatment of Expanded Polystyrene
• BIOCOMPACT: Development of bioaccelerators to optimize biodegradable plastics composting
• ADDINPLAS: Recycling of cosmetic contenidors using plastic additives
• µSENS: Sensors for Microplastics Separation
• RE-F∞D: Recycling of plastic food embalatge
As a result of the work of this conference, at 12:30pm the following awards will be given:
- MOST INOVATIVE PROJECT: To the most complete project regarding scientific-technological solidity, impact and sustainability, transferability and business model.
- SCIENTIFIC-TECHNOLOGICAL SOLIDITY: To the project that best lays the scientific-technological knowledge foundation to develop innovation in the application field.
- IMPACT AND SUSTAINABILITY. To the project that best defines the reach and impact of the project, from a point of view of user segmentation and environmental and socio-economic sustainability perspectives.
- TRANSFERABILITY AND BUSINESS MODEL: To the project that best gives a scientific-technological transferability strategy, in terms of intellectual and industrial protection and/or exploitation, either contractual or societal. Project with the best business model.
