PhD in Chemistry (University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (Germany)) for his thesis on the synthesis of conductive polymers of electricity for electron beam lithography, which was carried out at Infineon Technologies AG (former company of the SIEMENS group). He then joined the UMDO group at the Materials Science Institute of the University of Valencia as a postdoc where he launched a new line of research in the field of chemical synthesis of new nanomaterials for optoelectronics, photovoltaics and sensors. At the end of 2009 he co-founded Intenanomat S.L. spin-off company of the University of Valencia, where he was the R&D manager for 7 years. Intenanomat is aimed at R&D of nanomaterials for applications in biotechnology, sensors, optoelectronics, catalysis and renewable energy. In 2017 he joined the University of Valencia again with a Ramón y Cajal fellowship and launched a new line of research in the field of synthesis and formulation of nanomaterials of nanomaterials for optoelectronics, thermoelectrics, photo and electrocatalysis and sensors. His main line of research focuses on the synthesis and deposition of new multifunctional nanomaterials for optoelectronics, energy convertion, sensing and catalysis using different deposition and printing techniques. In particular, he has a great interest in the synthesis of metal nanoparticles (Au, Ag, Pt), semiconducting nanocrystals (Lead halide Perovskites, Quantum Dots), Metal Oxides (TiO2, ZnO, NiOx, CoOx, SnOx, InOx...) and conducting polymers and their nanocomposites. Due to the combination of these properties, nanocomposites are the ideal candidates for the low cost manufacturing of the next generation of micro and high performance nanodevices in solid state. Currently, he has published more than 70 peer-review papers, 12 patents, over 60 contributions to the conference, and has received more than 1300 citations, an H = 21 and in Nanoscience / Nanotechnology and Physics- Chemistry (Source: Google Scholar). He is currently supervising 3 Theses, 5 master's theses, 8 bachelor's theses and has supervised 1 PhD thesis.

Coming from a background of analytical chemistry, my research has focused on developing vibrational spectroscopic techniques to address a wide range of bioanalytical problems spanning the clinical and biological fields. Clinical Spectroscopy is a multidisciplinary field that involves research in chemistry, optics, and statistics to provide applications in the biomedical context. I have been very lucky to work in different labs across Europe and Australia, including France (1.5 years), Germany (0.5 years), Australia (4.5 years) and Ireland (2 years). I have finally settled in the University of Valencia with a Ramon y Cajal grant, where I am establishing myself as an independent researcher.
Scientific Output: I have authored more than 60 journal articles and 2 chapters in indexed scientific journals: 55% as the first or corresponding author, 66% of the articles published in the first Quartile (Q1) of their respective field. These works have been cited 1200 times (Jan,2020); h-index is 23; [Google Scholar] and I obtained a granted US patent. As a PI, my projects have obtained more than 500K EUR in funding from institutions in Europe, Australia and Asia. |
