Last 23 November, D Jorge Fernández López, Director of the

C.I.B.E MARÍTIM Centre (Intervención Baja Exigencia) informed about the action taken in the centre where they work with active drug consumers and that this year celebrates the 25 anniversary of its activity (1989-2015).

The aim of their intervention is to prevent or reduce the severity and impact of the problems associated to drug consumption, trying the users to “make a consumption (if they want to) in which they assume the minimum possible risks”. Furthermore, the assistance that the centre provides tries to cover other needs that this population present (undernourishment, poor personal hygiene and lack of medical attention), offering assistance depending on the need of the person which is why the centre is presented to them under the slogan “How can we help you?”.
