On 28 May, in the Sixth Scientific Sessions, Ms María Vallejo Fornés, psychologist at AMBIT centre, taught this conference. From her experience, she stressed “the usefulness of specialised training as a tool in combating prejudice and social stigma”.

Ms María Vallejo, former student of this master’s degree, informed on the different activities that are been carried out by AMBIT centre. She raised the problematic situation in the treatment of inmates or former inmates, who added to suffering mental disorder and poly-drug using, are socially excluded. The demand for care requested by users is related to the high rate of drug relapses, the mental disorders they suffer, and sometimes the re-entering into prison: “they are ‘revolving door’ users”. The treatment to these people must be comprehensive, so that the action requires multidisciplinary and cross methodology, covering from relapse prevention and care during periods of crisis in mental disorders, to social integration.
