Dr. Susana Jiménez Murcia is the head of the Pathological Game Unit of the Bellvitge Hospital of Barcelona.

In his lecture she presented the characteristics of this Unit that has a welfare, teaching and research profile. He noted that since the legalization of the online game, it is observed that has been an increase in people in search of treatment as well as a decrease in the age at which this behaviour change occurs.

Moreover, the disorder evolution has changed. The onset can occur at any age, but is usual to happen during the adolescence. Although the loss of control of the behaviour occurred in a period of five years, at present it is shorter and is related to factors such as gender and with significant gains or losses.

The results of his research with his group have shown that this behavioural disorder is related to the presence of high impulsivity and is often triggered when stressful life events occur.
