Part-time modality
First year enrolment must have a minimum of 24 ECTS and, the following year, a maximum of 36 ECTS In our case, it would divide the master as follows:
- Our master's degree begins with two mandatory modules (from mid October until January). Each module is 14 ECTS. Therefore, enrolling in both of them will put you above the minimum required credits needed for the first year, as it would mean a total of 28 ECTS. These two modules are: Natural systems and society (41052), and Techniques for the analysis and processing of geographical information (41053).
- The second year of enrolment must include the Master’s degree final project (TFM) and the External Internships (PE), two mandatory subjects in our master's degree. They are 6 ECTS each for a total of 12 ECTS. Next, you must choose one of the two itineraries offered by the master's degree: one more oriented towards the environment and other more towards the territory. In both cases, each itinerary is composed of two operative modules. With each one of them being 10 ECTS. Therefore, a complete itinerary will be a total of 20 ECTS. In the end, doing the TFM, the PE and the complete itinerary will put you at 32 ECTS. This way, you will meet the condition of the part-time enrolment of having a maximum of 36 ECTS for the second year.
- You must take into consideration that this modulation lets you meet the necessary requirements to do the PE: you must first pass the mandatory subjects of Natural systems and society (41052), and Techniques for the analysis and processing of geographical information (41053).
- In relation to this, in our master's degree, it is possible to validate the PE subject for similar professional experience as long as it lasted longer than 6 month, among other criteria. Then, the part-time enrolment of the second year could mean that, in reality, if you opt for the validation of PE, you’ll only do three subjects: The TFM and those two from the chosen itinerary.
- Lastly, as an exceptional case, the Academic Coordinating Committee could accept enrolment changes from those students that originally enrolled full-time (meaning the 60 ECTS of the master's degree) who wanted, at the halfway point and as long as the two mandatory subjects (41052 and 41053), to change into a “part-time” modality due to justified reasons.
