Objectives of the Master's

The Master's Degree in Advanced Hispanic Studies: Applications and Research has the following general objectives:

1. To provide students with the tools and knowledge necessary for the development of the capacity to intervene socially in the conservation and dissemination of Hispanic cultural heritage (linguistic and/or literary and theatrical) as an identity value, promoting their knowledge.
2. To provide graduates with advanced training aimed at specialisation in the field of Hispanic language and/or literature and theatre.
3. To provide students with the tools and knowledge necessary for the development of creative, critical, analytical and synthesising skills to reflect on and formulate original judgements on subjects related to the Hispanic language and/or literature and theatre and to transmit them to different types of audiences. Also, to develop the ability to conceive and carry out research in the field of study of the Master.

In general terms, the demand for this Master is synthesized in these three points:

1.    The confirmation of the rise and expansion of the Spanish language and literature industry and the Hispanic cultural field. This is where Spanish (as a language and its creative, theatrical and literary expression) comes together as a mechanism for commercial, economic, diplomatic and cultural exchange, as well as the expansion (and possibility of export) of this cultural sphere (especially its language and literature) in its natural market (Spain, Latin America) and in its European and world dimension. In addition, the rise of this international interest in its formative-academic and research aspects.
2.    The applications of this industry, in the first place, in the demand for general or applied teacher training, which is demanded by successive educational reforms. Secondly, the demand for services applied to the economic-industrial-cultural-tourist fabric of both the Valencian Community and the State: translation, stylistic correction of texts, provision and management of contents for the dissemination of linguistic, literary and theatrical heritage; business and commercial exchanges. Thirdly, the demand for services applied to the judicial administration and to specific industrial and economic fabrics (publishing houses, expertise, theatre industry and management, software companies, telephony; cultural tourism; promotion and conservation of cultural and bibliographic heritage). Fourthly, the demand for services applied to oral and written media: writing, criticism, learning to write scripts, versions and adaptations, etc. Finally, the socio-cultural demand, in a society that progressively has more time for cultural consumption and for training and continuous learning with a high degree of quality demand.
3.    The need to train specialists in the foreign promotion of the Spanish language and culture, both in the field of language dissemination (Spanish as a foreign language) and in the diplomatic dimension (cultural aggregations in embassies, etc.) within the growing demand in today's society for cultural consumption and intermediation.
