The Pan American Institute of Geography and History has announced the call for the “"Prize for the Outstanding Master's thesis in Cartography, Geodesy and/or Geographic Information”. The delivery period of works will be from 1 to 30 May 2017.

The award aims to recognise and promote the academic and scientific works carried out by graduates of official Master programmes of organisations or universities located in any f the Member States of the Pan American Institute of Geography and History (PAIGH)

In order to apply, the candidate should prepare a summary, in any of the PAIGH official languages  (english, spanish, french or portuguese), shaped as a scientific paper of no more than 15 pages, including a  description of the topic considered, the references considered, a description of the work performed,  stating the conclusions and highlighting the importance of the work and its contributions to the  development of knowledge or the procedures used.

A first prize and up to three mentions will be granted. The document could be published by the  Commission journal Revista Cartográfica, in the web page of the Cartography Commission, or  any other means available to PAIGH so the copyright should be transferred.

It is recalled that to participate, the thesis should have been presented between January 1st  , 2012 and December 31th 2016,  and can be written in any language.
