Biographical outline:

He graduated in Medicine at the Universitat de València in 1953 and received his doctorate in the same thesis on "Cardiac Mechanics". His complementary training took place in the University Clinical Hospital of Valencia and in the universities of Cologne, Marseille and Groningen. He developed his teaching activity at the University of Valencia, first as assistant professor, then as assistant professor of Medical Pathology and as an added professor of Cardiology, occupying since 1981 the first Chair of Cardiology in Spain, an activity that he combined with that of the head of the Service of Cardiology of the University Clinical Hospital of Valencia.

He held numerous positions of responsibility in scientific and research societies and in the academic field, including the presidency of the Valencian Medical Institute (1978-1986), the Instituto Valenciano pro Corazón (INSVACOR) (1985-1988), Valencian Society of Cardiology (1983-1985), of the Spanish Society of Cardiology (1989-1991) or of the Research Unit of the University Clinical Hospital of Valencia (1990-2000), as well as the direction of the School of Nursing of the University of Valencia (1981-1984).

He was also a board member of the Spanish Society of Internal Medicine (1966-69), of the Spanish Allergy Society (1969-71) and of the Spanish Society of Respiratory System Pathology (SEPAR) (1972 and 1979-82), and He was part of the National Cardiology Commission (1984-1998) and the decanal team of the Faculty of Medicine of Valencia (1979-1982).
