Ernest Lluch i Martín (Vilassar de Mar, 1937 - Barcelona, 2000).
Economist, historian and politician. He was a member of the Valencian Parliament, Minister of Health and Consumer Affairs and professor of History of Economic Doctrines.
In 1961 he graduated with a special award in Political, Economic and Business Sciences from the University of Barcelona, where he worked as a trainee lecturer at the Faculty of Political and Economic Sciences.
In 1970 he presented his doctoral thesis, supervised by Fabián Estapé, and called El pensament econòmic a Catalunya entre el renaixement econòmic i la revolució industrial: la irrupció de l'escola clàssica i la resposta proteccionista.
In the same year he began to work as a tenure-track lecturer at the Faculty of Economics of the University of Valencia. He was appointed full university professor by the University of Barcelona in 1986.
